Hey Souup what are your thoughts on Taru?
I like him a lot. I'd spend pick 5 on him but it's a stretch to spend 2.

I think he'll end up being Howe-like, without the foot-skills (although they might develop over time - I don't think he's a poor kick). My issue with him is that I just cannot imagine him kicking more than 40 goals as a forward. He might prove me wrong and do it at some point in his career, but I just don't see that in him.

What sets him apart is his courage, aggression and attack on the ball and man. I think he'll be one of those players that lifts everyone around him with what he does without the ball. He'll be involved in moments that turn the tide of games. We have that sort of dynamic with Wardlaw, and I think Tauru is bordering on that same manic-ness in a taller body.

In the event we do pick FOS, I'd be happy to develop him off half back like we have done with Sheez and Kerch.

His agility and vision would be really damaging off there while he build his body. Would also be equally happy to park him on a wing in the VFL for 12 months while he develops.
I was thinking:

O’Sullivan Comben Wardlaw/Parker
Curtis Larkey Ford

For maximum forward pressure.
Swing Parker/Wardlaw 50/50 mid/fwd.

Have CZ and BGZ options for HF/wing/mid rotation/Bench.

Tauru, Wardlaw, Archer, Comben.

The list of manic campaigners would be growing nicely.

Time to see how desperate tigs are to get both FOS and Lalor
Realistically, taking picks out of it, fair value for handing FOS/Draper over to Rich/StK would be:

  • Tauru + Lindsay
  • Tauru + Hannaford
  • Tauru + J Whitlock.
  • Tauru + Berry
  • Tauru + Hotton

If we can’t guarantee a combo of two of the players that suit our needs, then just take FOS.

I'd like Trainor in the mix

I genuinely think Tauru will be available after the Saint's picks. Personally think Melbourne will go with a mid-first. Unless they go with Allan @10. I think it ends up going down something like this.

1. Richmond - Lalor
2. Brisbane - Ashcroft
3. North - FOS
4. Carlton - Draper
5. Adelaide - Smith
6. Melbourne - Langford
7. Richmond - Smillie
8. St Kilda - Allan
9. St Kilda - Reid
10. Melbourne - Tauru
11. Richmond - Lindsay
12. Richmond - Armstrong

Can't see how trading our F1 for Tauru (or any required player) anywhere between 5 - 15 is a bad thing

I think ppl forget we're also buying one year of development.
Yeah I don't mind it personally. I think if we walk away with FOS, Tauru and Gerryn(long shot, I know, but who knows) plus River it's not bad. I'd take that.

I reckon that something can be figured out where we get a Saints pick and help them to get multiple later picks.

Maybe a three way swap with Saints and Richmond where the Tigers get future picks and we get pick 7, Saints get 11, 18 etc.

Which means nothing if there's a major talent gap.

1 year of an 18 year old Josh Gibcus wouldn't have made up for Harry Sheezel, would it?

There's a point we absolutely should not trade that pick, it's around Pick 10 as a single pick and no less than 2 picks in the top 20.

giantroo know of any way those of us who had 9am meetings can listen to the full Thursfield chat?
Whoever scheduled a meeting for 9.00 Monday morning needs a serious talking to. Don't they know Monday morning is for checking emails and catching up on 648 pages of Big Footy.

Dream scenario for us I think is. FOS at 2 and we trade something from the future and take a tall. Viking, Armstrong, Whitlocks, Faull, Shanahan, Gerryn. Plenty to chose from, just need a buyer.

If we don't get value for the F1, i'd be dangling the F2 & F3 for picks around that 30-40 range if Sims and Gerryn are there personally.

I think Sims will be as good as some of those names you have listed earlier.

Sims reminds me of an even more athletic Petrie. It's also the forward/ruck role sorted long term and he's a strong contested mark as a point of difference to Larkey.
