Why isn’t he ideal? We don’t have a brute midfielder. We are really small as a group.Watched some more of Smillie
Whilst he’s not the ideal pick for us, or even an appropriate pick, he does look good. I can see the Bont comparison in that he is a smoooooth mover through traffic. Has some toe. Kicking is very good but absolutely shanks the odd one.
Knows how to hit the scoreboard.
If he’s on the hairs at our pick, a club will pay a lot to get him.

Called it!Should be back in two weeks. Just in time for Countrys final two games.
At the time I thought you chewed off more than you can chew Chewy Chewman, but you nailed it!Called it!
I wouldn't have thought so, just came back from injury, some of the clearances in that last game were fantastic, in 2022 at the under 16 carnival which SA won, Sid was very good in that first game before he missed the rest of the carnival with I think it was a fractured thumb, last year as an under ager he made the all Australian team, let me put it this way , if he doesn't go in the first five selections I think the phones will be cranking up a notch whoever has the next pick, and recruiters and coaches will be getting pretty excited, but that's a "what if" scenario so we will see what happens at the end of the year.Is Sid Draper falling down the order after his Nationals?
Don't you just love these intriguing questions at this time of year? As for where we finish, dam it, lets get some wins and send the message that we are not just coming but when we do, it is going to be an adjustment for a lot of Kangaroo supporters and a lot of supporters from other clubs that will be filthy that we're so good and its only because of all the handouts we received, if that happened, the laughter from us on every football forum would probably crash the site.Kako just has to be as clever as Watson, Rakine and any of the top small forward tiprats!!
Gunna be interesting how we play the draft this year and what we priortise in an even draft - best available? Who is the best available or is it the best available midfielder that suits our profile? What if we finished above Richmondand WCE. does that change things? How do we split pick 2 or 3 etc etc
I understand what your saying Horse35 and believe me between now and draft time at least 1/4 to 1/2 of supporters from all clubs want to trade their future first or future second and get more bites at the cherry, so to speak. Recruiters know prospects years in advance and while it is done every now and again its only done if the recruiter is satisfied it won't impact a decision that he would regret, eg: where his club might finish next year and who the top twenty players in that draft according to his whiteboard.Would love an experts view on this one, but does this year seem to be growing towards one of the best years we’ve had recently for KPF’s ?…there seems to be a few that can really play:
Shanahan, Whitlock, Faull, Sims etc etc
Would love to see us be bold and trade out pick 1 and load up on a couple…coming out of the draft with Kako, Shanahan, Sims & River…wow !!!
Oh nice. I couldn't really tell it was Comben. It was a little blurry.LoL
That contested marking behemoth wearing No. 40 for Vic Country

Gee its risky - WCE gave up an elite player for 2 average players.Using premium draft capital on another centre square mid that is years off the running required to be his best.
If FOS is gone at our pick then I’d say trade it to Gold Coast for 8 and 9. Or future first for 8 and 9.

Reads like Cripps in his draft year.Because he doesn’t really play like a ‘brute’ midfielder. Even though he is tall he doesn’t really play tall.
Ginbey has huge issues - he can't find the ball. He had 10 touches on the weekend - 85% game time. Average was generous.I don't think they are average.
Hewett will be good.
Ginbey has some issues, but will be better than an above average player imo. He's a physical powerhouse that will be a weapon in multiple roles in 3-4 years, despite some disposal issues. He's a slow burn the same way Cunners and Ziebell were to an extent.
No way you trade Wardlaw for them, but I also don't think FOS is Wardlaw either. It's also not to say some of those in that 6-12 range aren't better for our list than those two were either.
IT swings a lot if FOS is McCluggage rather than Wardlaw and Kako and Lalor are the next Kosi Pickett and Flanders/Day
Think we were always taking sheezGinbey has huge issues - he can't find the ball. He had 10 touches on the weekend - 85% game time. Average was generous.
Eagles handed us Sheezel.
I don't think that 8 & 9 is enough for a top 2 pick. That'll be around the 11th and 14th kids in the draft.Using premium draft capital on another centre square mid that is years off the running required to be his best.

If the Bont wins the Brownlow I think the ill-informed media will jump on Josh Smillie as the number one pick, regardless of whether he's a genuine number one or not, they'll be fapping about the "Next Bont" coming through.Watched some more of Smillie

Gerreyn answered a couple of questions people had been asking in a confident display by the big man. He launched at contested marks all game and managed to clunk a couple of strong ones, and he dominated in his backup ruck stints against Country's secondary rucks. Overall, he continued to show the combination of size and skills that has draft watchers intrigued.
Well we could take with our first pick but it sounds like you're asking Brady to orchestrate another… Mega TradeDesperately want us to figure out a way to get Luke Trainor home to North.
