I think he's more along the Cripps, Bont, Fyfe type mould imo. His ball use can be sublime at times and he has a great sidestep but he's just a beast over the ball. The type who can lift with the game on the line and win 3-4 key clearances in a row to give his team the best chance to win. Has natural forward craft too.

Thats off limited viewing however, not the easiest footy league to tune into each weekend!
They all look good on those GVFNL highlights ;)

There is soooooo much different in circumstances to sprinting on the footy pitch with a ball to sprinting in a basketball stadium in a time trial.

Well damn ... let's do away with the combine altogether then. Fact is FOS is pretty quick. His running gait looks a lot more laconic but he gains separation very easily.

Crows could rise next year, could make the 8.

They could. They might not also. Fact is we are a finals team now, and our parts are in place now.

Probably the main thing (aside from injuries) that stopped Andrew becoming a star.

1AW will always be a star in my eyes. Love him to bits.

The biggest thing that stood out to me from his highlights was how he was getting tackled as he disposed of the ball in half of them. I'll admit I haven't watched any full games, but if those are his highlights, he doesn't appear fast on the football field.

As for the combine, I mean yeah - we could do away with it. It's pretty useless. NFL Combine is important because it's such a tailored and athletically explosive sport. You need to be a certain speed to cover certain positions at the elite level. That is not the case for AFL, outside of aerobic capacity. You could basically replace the combine with a 2km and 6km time trial and I reckon you'd get just as effective results.

Jagga coming into our midfield with Crippa, Walshy, Cez and Georgie and others rotating through like Blake, Ollie, Lijah, Doc, Ben Campo, Lord, Binnsy, Cinc - he won’t be the main guy and have to do all on his own like top picks we have had in the past. I believe he will make an immediate impact, bring something different that we don’t have and will really improve our midfield that will help our side!!

Lucky we’re likely not going to get a chance to draft FOS.
According to some he’s shit - funny that he’s likely to be selected 1 or 2 🤦‍♂️.
It is possible to favor a player without having to put down the others.
Given that everyone is straight out guessing how players will come on, I would have thought being a little more measured would be a smarter approach.

That’s not the Carlton supporters way Harry 🙄 … but I totally agree with you!!

You forgot Cody Walker 😎
Why would we need Reid when we have Cody coming in 2 years time. If he keeps developing like he did this year, he's going to be the result of someone getting Kouta and 1AW and slammed them together using the LHC to make a single person.

I hope he is gone before our pick, because I'd hate to leave him on the board.

I can get over not getting Draper and him turning out elite, as long as the Crows take him. I can tell myself he was a go home risk.

Question for the draft watches - what attributes and points of difference does Jagga bring to our team and specifically our midfield, that we are currently lacking?

He is very clean, especially with his hands.
Elite level decision making.
Elusiveness (think Rozee in traffic)

His cons are his size/strength (albeit he is tough!) and he is a top ager, turns 19 in Jan.

Quicker than all our other midfielders, but pretty close to Walsh's first 20m.

Evasion is top notch. Does not get knocked off his feet despite his size. Footy IQ off the charts.

I reckon Nick has Jagga covered for speed and kicking. Jagga has better stoppage craft and contested ball winning ability at the same age though.
I wouldn't be comparing Jagga, he is a very unique, he plays his own game, will be the afl possessions leader will rack them up like crazy, Cripps will be his cover, he will have good ppl around him, if he went to Richmond he would not have tht same back up.

Where did you get Jagga’s weight from?
It was from an article on the AFL site from January 3rd 2024
Eye on the future: 10 draft prospects to watch in 2024…
By Callum Twomey…
All 10 players have height/weight
Sorry i don’t know how to upload these articles onto the forum site, else i would have…
