Just me or is that puke-worthy for North?

North are the ones who want to trade out of this draft. They never should have traded pick 25 in my opinion. Probably would have got 6&18/20 for 2 & 25. But now there stuck with 2 and 62….
They have a need for key position players and would need to pay overs weather its with Richmond, saints, Melbourne etc.

Now I want to see one with Jagga Smith or Sid Draper to the tune of Nessun Dorma

The essence of Nessun Dorma is that no one is allowed to sleep until they can guess the name of a prospective match.

It's basically the theme song of this thread!!!

True, but Richmond aren't exactly reluctant partners here.

Richmond have 8 picks in the top 24.

You can't deny that the club would be keen on upgrading and/or flipping some picks forward a year...

If SOS thinks Ben Campo is worth a punt, he’ll bid on him to keep us honest.

Dodoro did the same thing with JSOS, did he not?

I think JSOS bid was different.

I suspect Dodo and SOS might have half orchestrated it beforehand.

It was a nice touch to show Jack was rated by someone other than Carlton. AND I think at the end of the day it actually improved our picks.

All reports show we aren’t overly keen.

I myself want 1,2 but that’s to get FOS & Lalor as they are best mates. Would keep them tigers for life.

Others suggest we can get a slider at 6 as they are all equal.

North are very desperate to trade out of 2 becaue they have got rid of all there capital.

I do like the way Tiggs supporters think they're going to get some kind bargain because Nth is apparently desperate to trade down after parting with pick 25. If Richmond are just as keen to trade up, it nullifies any 'bargain'.

For mine, North are better off keeping pick 2 and offering their future 1st to someone like GWS for 16 and 21. Or even just take GWS' pick 16 and exchange future 1sts. They have plenty of options.

It does seem counter intuitive on face value....in a draft that the experts say is one of the deepest, you'd think it'd be wiser to trade down rather than up - similarly if it was seen as a shallow draft, you'd look to trade up.

Picks 12 and 14 in this draft may well be much better value than pick 3, but it may be one of the rare opportunities for a while that we get a talented kid at the pointy end of the draft, especially with Tassie coming in - although we do have a potential #1 pick arriving at our doorstep in a couple of years
The 2001 draft is generally considered one of the historic super drafts yes?

Hodge Ball Judd top 3. Bartel 8 etc.

Picks 12 and 14 ended up being Brent Reilly and Ashley Watson. One played 200 games as a no fuss defender... Solid citizen. The other played 7 games. I know.other great players went before and after those 2 picks but yeah .... Judd or Hodge are just so much more value.

So even the fact people think this might be a crazy deep good draft there's still proof historically that in such drafts a top 3 pick is better than two around 12-14

I think the danger here is taking a media term and assuming equivalence, but also assuming that there was broad competency in recruitment back then (or even now).

I don’t care we don’t trade for pick 2 lol. We have 8 picks?? I am simply stating the truth it’s been mentioned in the media.

This is exciting, but I’ve read too much here and now a bit confused as to who I want, each of the top 5 got their own strengths & weaknesses - so, I leave it to Austin & co.

#3 gives us a quality player, no matter who we get to choose out of the top 5:
Lalor
FOS
Smith
Draper
Langford

Probably in that order for me

The main thing is the complexion of our side will change a fair bit with hopefully a bit of youth & speed in our team:
#3 Wilson Moir Lord Boyd

And then throw in Doch for his run :)

31. BEN CAMPOREALE
Position:
Midfielder
Size: 185cm
Clubs: Glenelg/Brighton Districts & Old Scholars
AFL player comparison: Brad Crouch
Blues fans have loved following the progress of Camporeale, who’s been a prolific ball-winner across two years due to his strength on the inside and excellent running ability on the outside. He was the standout for his state during the national carnival, averaging 26.8 disposals, 10.0 contested possessions, 4.5 clearances and 3.8 tackles to win South Australia’s MVP award. Camporeale is a proven big-game performer, named best on ground in last year’s Under 17s Futures game (30 disposals, 8 marks) before a strong 24-disposal, six-tackle outing for the AFL Academy against Footscray earlier this year. Camporeale is father-son eligible to Carlton as his dad is Blues premiership player and All-Australian Scott Camporeale. Whether a bid on Camporeale comes before or after the Blues’ second selection (Pick 38) remains a mystery, but most scouts think it’ll come afterwards, which would be a great result for Carlton.

Maybe Austins preference is Finn, then Jagga. If somewhat surprisingly we miss out on both of them. We should then still

be able to get Draper.

My personal order of preference is Finn, then Sid, then Jagga.

I think our preference will be FOS, Lalor. If both are gone we have the pick of Smith and Draper

Walsh seems a weird comparison too...

I would say him and Walsh are different players. Walsh is like an endurance type mid. Where fos seems to be like a Harley type. Can go forward and kick goals, definitely not built or strong like Harley/JHF but more like a deledio who have great over head mark. Which makes the Isaac Heeney comparison the closest one.

On limited viewing I like FOS as the best rounded mid.

Lalor next as the type we lack on our list. Draper pretty well on par.

Langford and then Smith.

Crows would be legitimately shitting that we pick Draper...shame they can't upgrade our 38.

Good article on O'Farrell:

Had a couple of slight injuries to deal with, in another draft year, he could go top 25.

A haul of Draper, HOF + Campos would be a pretty good result imo...
It would be extremely difficult to be unhappy with we came away with that!
