Interesting that Clancy Dennis didn’t even crack a mention as being unlucky to miss out. Strange that an All Australian key defender doesn’t get rated in the top 60.

Perhaps U18 AA selection isn't the measuring stick it once was. Kieran Collins' a cautionary tale as far as needing room for growth and development.

While no recruiter has picked the best player at each pick over their tenure (they could write their own ticket if they did), it should always be the goal

Pick 3, you would be looking for 200+ gamer, but no reason you can't find 2 players like that late in the 1st round
At Pick #3 i'm looking for a Brownlow / Norm Smith medalist.

Agree, one should expect nothing less form the top 5 youngsters in the land.
The hit or miss, drafting is a gamble let offs or excuses for poor selections just don’t cut it, systems are more sophisticated and the advancement in Football management and operations are significant.
The salaries are huge too.

Have you guys in a mock draft, how many picks do you expect to take? 1 or 2 + the twins?
I think the intention is to take midfielder at #3 (Austin has indicated a preference for speed/x factor at #3), at #38 likely a key defender but potentially another key position player if best available and then the two Camporeale's thereafter.

Austin Lucy.

Highly rated pre draft, AA CHB/FB in 2005.

Went at Pick 66 to Essendon and only lasted a year.

Exactly. But there will be 4 picks inserted and 4 picks burned, which leaves us back where we started. When Ashcroft is taken, we will go into 37 as one pick is inserted and two burned. Then Lombard pushes us back to 38 as one pick is inserted and matching picks are after 38. Then Kako brings us back to 37 as one pick is inserted and two burned. Then Marshall takes us back to 38 again as one pick is inserted and the matching picks are after our pick.
No worries TODN, it's just me being nit picky at 7.30 in the morning.

Initial post read - "There will be 4 bids in academy players before our pick, and 4 picks burned matching those bids." Just clarifying the 4 picks burned are to match just two of the bids not all of the bids.
