When you consider the information that’s out there (media, rumour, chatter etc.), it points to:

Lalor goes to Tiges at 1

We take FOS if he gets to our pick at 3/4
If he goes before our pick, to either North, or Tiges (or Saints? However unlikely)

We’ll be deciding between Smith and Langford.
I can't see a world where we take Langford. He's the opposite of everything the club has publicly stated we're looking for.

He may well end up the best player in it, but he's the worst list fit by a country mile.

As exciting as highlights are I think we need to take them in context. Not hard to find 5-6 minutes of elite footage across a whole season (2 in FOS case). It gives us an idea of peak potential but that's about it.

I prefer looking at match tapes or highlights from specific matches which often include every play the player is involved in. Gives you a better idea of their best, their worst and what their regular standard is.

As an example, if you were picking based on highlights you would take David Cunningham over Sam Walsh every day of the week. But as we know Walshy is a much better player.
I have Jagga and FOS extremely close but I do tend to favour Jagga. Not based off highlights alone, but another reason why I favour Jagga is that he was named All Australian Captain. I’m all for another young leader at our club. His peers can’t be wrong 👍

If North want to build their future around Tauru (good shout). They are going to have to use pick 2. Doubt he lasts to pick 6.

Which gives us second pick of the clear top 2 mids, Lalor or Jagger. Can’t loose with either.

If Lalor’s gone and Tigers are desperate for pick 3, to over pay. Then I’m seriously considering it.

Zero chance Tigs go for either of those unfortunately. They might like pick 3, but not that much.

I'm just glad no one brought the Cadbury favourites...

You say that, but Walshy's highlights are pretty sweet. MOTY, the goal in an empty stadium screaming F yeah, several on a string kicks inside 50 (from 22/23, doubt he had many at all this yr..) come to mind

Reported twice in zerhanger as Chronic pars defect Jimmie not acute.

“Draper is in Melbourne for this week's Draft Combine, however, the 2023 South Australia MVP won't take part in testing due to a chronic pars defect in his back.”

Reported quote from Draper as a Chronic back injury in the Advertiser:

“Top South Australian draft prospect Sid Draper says he has “no reservations” about joining the Crows in November’s AFL national draft and is confident a chronic back injury won’t affect his football future.”

You're sort of proving my intended point: chronic refers to persistence, not necessarily severity. Acute does as well, but severe not so much, though usually acute issues are more severe to prompt a medical intervention.

Is his condition significantly debilitating, or was he just in the middle of a recovery period with the issue having been identified? There's probably a good reason it's not been put in the press.

Dylan Alexander has us taking Draper in his latest phantom mock draft! Worth a look from this knowledgeable guy...

Knowledgeable, or smooth-talking influencer/Essendon fan?

That was a pretty mediocre rundown full of new buzzwords I suspect I'm going to have to learn.

He’s a north fan
Fair enough, probably explains why he had a logical plan to fix Essendon's midfield issues, if at an insane price.

Doesn't really negate that I could have been fooled into thinking I could see my reflection in his teeth

This is a possibility and has crossed my mind but surely any club worth it's salt is going to have medical reports in hand of top prospects they've scouted especially if they've cited it as a reason for withdrawing from a combine.
That’s what I was thinking wick. We don’t need to do a medical and it sounds like AFL don’t allow it.

But how can the AFL deny a request to look at an existing medical report or scans to assess the extent of the chronic pars defect. Draper’s already quoted that he’s confident it won’t affect his playing future so can’t see why he wouldn’t allow a club access to the reports.

Full season highlights for Jagga Smith, the most consistent performer in this years draft pool. He was a relentless accumulator of the footy no matter the opponent or the level he played at, and displayed some elite AFL level attributes along the way. He may not ultimately end up being taken at pick 1, but he's the most risk free of the elite prospects at the pointy end of the pool.

FOS is a goal kicking mid which we don't have many of

I think the bigger problem is that Charlie and Harry aside we don't have any goal kicking forwards!

Been waiting for this one, LFG.

Thanks for that - I needed that highlight to swing back to Smith

I'm going to take Lalor out of equation, as he is going be #1.

Our choice is likely to be between FOS, Smith and Draper

IMO - Smith is definitely the best choice for CFC.
His evasiveness is pretty good and gives him plenty of time to execute his disposals - which is quite clean.
He just knows how to be involved in the game

With Draper - there are new injury risks and his disposals are not clean. Sure it can improve, but by how much?
With FOS - he's just not involved enough, fades in & out of games. So, is it all down to injury affected or something else?

Lock in Smith - thanks Austin & Co :D

Knowing our fans, they’ll run Austin out of town for not ending up with Ashcroft.
So we bid and Brisbane has to match

Austin - there you go, we've tried to get Ashcroft :p
