My top 4 preferences are:

1. Jagga
2. Smith
3. Jagga Smith

And if the above all taken…

4. Smith, Jagga.

I have spoken.

And if Jagga Smith goes pick 2 you turn into John Elliott reincarnate and buy North Melbourne.

Interesting that The Age, Cal and Herald Sun are all predicting the first 12 to fall the same way… probably some word firming up now.
More likely The Age and HS are copying Cal. :p

I don’t buy into the fast fad if your agile and quick thinker you will find space to give and get.
So many so called fast players run them selves into trouble or confuse there teammates as there unpredictable then just bomb it long.Jagga has bit of diesel he sees the game unfold and tries to set a play beyond what is immediate.
Draper is great but he will turn it over and that hurts.
Draper isn’t playing midfield day one so half back where we are stacked.
Jagga plays forward and impacts day one.
I see this as a more positive push for a flag in a three year time frame.
Plus I think Jagga is better smarter player not as fast but fast and agile enough add footy brain and he tops Draper.
Draper has great qualities running through the line at speed breaking zones etc.
When I say better I think he pips him enough it’s not dramatic but he’s my choice from limited highlights as layman who loves footy but has a gut feel rooted in my limited knowledge
Draper could and should play midfield Rd 1.

Smith turns it over just as much as Draper to be frank - they all do...

Draper has that rare instinct of taking the game on, getting the ball forward quickly before the defence gets set, pretty much every time (and yes, sometimes it doesn't work), but that instinct can me molded and refined too.

His kicking has improved markedly from '23 to '24. He only misses now when fully under the pump or he's way off balance - same as any player...

Smith does not have that instinct. He is way more conservative...

Smith is a good player, but a POD? Nope.

That is why I prefer Draper.

Both exceptional players, Smith is absolutely a POD.

I’m not an ITK but I am a TIK - Think I Know. And I think I know that Jagga is gunna have the blue swagger. 😀
Gawd......Imminent meltdown potentially on the way :cryv1: :laughv1:

The only two issues I have with Smith is the lack of penetration in his kicking and his scope for improvement and development. 2-3 preseasons in the gym may buy him an extra 5m with his kicking, but I think Lalor, FOS & Draper have far greater scope for the development and expansion of their game.

Imteresting the crows (by all reports) prefer Smith too even over the local boy. I wonder what difference they see?

I wouldn’t be too worried about Smith not being in school last year. First, even the kids at school are training like quasi professionals these days. Second, most of the elite runners in year 12 can hold their own against AFL players. The big physical improvement instead comes from building strength, which is a multi year project. Improvement from football point of view comes from training and competing with AFL players.

Don’t really think it changes how much improvement he has coming to any great extent.

'Twas the night before Draftmas, when all through the land,
Not a poster was ranting (lest they be banned!);
The phantoms were posted, each pick with great care,
In hopes to predict which one will go where;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of Juddy danced in their heads;
And Ma in her Onesie, and I in me cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long evenin' nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon through the clouds bore a silvery glow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But the bluebagger hovercraft - Micky Voss in the rear,
With a little man driving so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick.
He rapidly flipped through the stats and each game,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

"Now, FOS! or Draper! Is it Lalor or Jagga!
Or Smillie! or Harvey! Which one for a 'Bagger?
Then on to the next pick, let's find a great tall!
Then the twin Campos, and that will be all!"

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the rankings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, from the spreadsheet he rose;
He sprang to his seat, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight—
“Happy Draftmas to all, and to all a good night!”
Elite post

Just get me someone who'll make us better and won't be chronically injured.
If it's between Smith and Draper, I wonder if we need an accumulator in Smith, given B Campo shapes as that kind of player.
Tbh, I'll be happy with FOS, Smith or Draper. Or Langford. My biggest wish is that we don't have to burn 38 on a bid match, and we get to spend that pick on a decent tall.
