This. We seem to look a bit lost when teams setup to stifle our ball movement. As much as lifting our contest work would combat that to a large extent, it's simply isn't our strong suit and we need to figure another way, not to win, but a way to find space to get our plan A going. That style is what plays to our squads strengths and makes us standout. No doubt our contest work should improve with a few inclusions, just don't think we will ever be physically able to attempt playing a whole game that way against good sides. We need the game on our terms.

Our pressure is our barometer imo. If it's elite then any attempt by the opposition to stifle our ball movement is frugal. Our success this year comes down to mental fortitude.

We need to find a way to win games other than bringing pressure ratings of 200+ every week as its not sustainable with the personnel we have.

We will burn out if we have to apply 80+ tackles every week and apply maniac pressure you save those types of efforts for big games/finals.

Hmmn.. were our pressure ratings all that high v the Dons, Tiggers and Eagles? Not suggesting we coasted but the pedal was not pressed to the metal.

He is way way ahead of pick 2 and 3 in one of the worst teams ever.

Always was. Let’s be real do feel it’s Reid and Jed Walter as the two elite talents. There’s a decent gap after those two. Reid is something else

Be very interested to see how Ethan Read goes as he grows into his body. He might end up the best of the lot.

Maybe doubt he’s as good as Reid or Walter though. WCE would have required an absolute kings ransom to trade pick 1 (which they were never going to do)

I had a look at most games on he weekend. I didn't necessarily see every quarter but watched for 10 minutes every quarter, except Thursday which I watched the whole game. Crows v Carlton & Lions performance v Dees stood out. I thought Saints come back against GWS was a result of GWS lacking some late match fitness after losing Taylor & Cogs. In the last quarter GWS reverted to the GWS of old & did not pick up opponents when they turned the ball over. Freo v Port was horrible. Freo strangle sides but can't score themselves. I think this is why they strangle other teams. The only great footy was played in the last 10 minutes.

Bombers v Dogs was turnover tempo. Credit to Bombers they played the better footy but there were so many turnovers in this game you could have started a pastry shop. The Cats v North game was so open you could have driven a tank between opponents all day. I don't know how many times both sides had players free in space. If North didn't fumble under absolutely no pressure & constantly kick the ball to opponents they might have actually done better. I mean, the Cats gave them every opportunity but they were not good enough to capitalize. The Cats took advantage of the monumental mistakes of their opponents but they never applied any great pressure either. This game was played like a VFL/SANFL game, lots of space & time. I mean Cameron had the ball on the wing at one stage & he could have had a picnic lunch and a bottle of Chablis before anyone came anywhere near him. Same applied to Simpkin at one stage but he stuffed the kick so badly.

Congrats to Eagles, they were very good. Can't say the same for the Tigers. Any more outs & they will be getting their Auskick players into play. But how we got beaten by this mob, who are a joke, I don't know. We ALLOWED them to move the ball because we did not have an defensive pressure up-field, But Eagles deserved their win and should have won by more, 10 goals at least.

Trust St Kilda more especially without Libba. That's all ive gone off but it is a game that I have no idea on.

And hope it hits them both and it's a nil all draw!!!!

Weirdly I don't hate the Saints too much, borng as anything to watch but don't hate them- the Dogs on the other hand...

Yeah I must say there are plenty of other teams I hate more than Saints - Dogs being my Numero Uno 😡

I will never recover from 2016.

Be interested to see how Hugo Garcia goes for the Saints tonight.
Sub last week, came on for his debut halfway through the 3rd Qtr, and was one of the catalysts, along with Jack Steele and Brad Hill, in getting the Saints back into the game.
First 4 minutes of game time, two tackles and 4 pressure acts.
Finished with 7 tackles, 11 disposals, 3 clearances and led the Saints in I50 tackles for the game.
Not bad in 34% of total game time on your debut.

Our sub on Sunday please take note.

Gone with the Saints in tonight’s game. Without Ugle-Hagan and Liberatore the Bulldogs. Plus they’ve burned me in the tipping the last two weeks. That said, it’s a type of game they would win though
