Maybe they were offering him 500k for four years and we were only offering 300k for two. If that's the case, you take the money.

But from a purely football perspective, I think his longevity as player would have been much better served by staying and fighting for his spot with us.
He would not crack the firsts with us ever again. Too much talent fighting to get in. Think he did the right thing.

Nigel Lappin was their midfield coach prior to this year when he became head of development for them.

Nearly anyone would be better than ours though.

Our midfield is the reason why we're inconsistent against bottom sides imo

Field position goes a long way to putting away teams beneath you

Yep, it's the great equalizer.

Based on their track record as a midfield, despite the names in it, not one team would fear our mids.

We aren't that good, and there are enough fringe players getting games that he could have fought for his spot if he was good enough.

If he thinks he isn't good enough to get selected ahead of Corey Warner and Caleb Mitchell, let alone players like Wicks and Roberts, then that is probably part of his problem. And he clearly made a decision to leave long before we added Adams and Jordon.

He wasn't that far off being a regular in the senior team. And he was a regular in the seniors at the beginning of 2023 when we were supposedly trying to re-sign him.

I think we have a much better record of developing players than North do. We had had 4 years to look at Dylan and understand his weaknesses and I am sure the club would have had plans to try and address issues like his competitiveness and find a role that he was best suited to. He was gradually improving with us.

Now he is at North. Their supporters are going to tear him apart. He won't improve at all, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even get to the end of his contract before they let him go.

If his goal is to have a long AFL career, he would have been much better off staying with us over North Melbourne.

Although to be clear, if there was a significant financial difference in the offers then I wouldn't blame anyone for taking the better contract.

And we'll be lucky to beat North by 10

When it comes to poor teams i think they just forget all the complicated stuff and just go back to basics against us and it seems to work frustratingly enough :/

Run/pressure block the corridor have a spare in defence and we will turn it over repeatedly Essendon, Richmond and Eagles did this.

A guard of honour for Rhys Stanley ... seriously ?!

North Melbourne need to get off the ground.

What's even more dire for Norf and the Hawks is if they don't pick up in the next few years, not only will they be struggling for fans but they lose their cash cow in the form of the Tassie gov't subsidies for playing games in Tassie.
Exactly this.

Lions were a basket case for years as their decline coincided with GWS and GC coming in.

Norf, WCE and Hawks staring down the same barrell

How did we let wce kick 80 odd points and win a quarter , plus lead?

They are garbage
Every team views us as beatable and come out to play their "line in the sand" game against us. Tigers and WC did. Next will be GC, Hawks than Norf. Guarantee we will lose to a least one of these teams.
