Same * supporter who said I didn't know footy when I said we went up a gear in the 4th to put the game beyond doubt.
I'd love to find that * supporter who continually told us that Aaron Francis had a better future than Charlie Curnow even when it was clear that Francis had a one way bus pass to spudsville.

That bloke was the tour group leader for * delusional tours. Plenty of them have signed up for that tour group.

Watching the replay - surely Channel 7 can do better than Jobe Watson and Nathan Jones. I feel sorry for them but they really are poor.
Poor on both legs.

A really solid professional display last night. Tough in defence and clinical in attack. Always great to beat that stain of a club and send their delusional supporters down their usual rabbit hole of excuses.

TDK phenomenal. Elijah immense. Encouraging to win without our big guns playing staring roles.

9-4 at the bye after the toughest draw in the competition and an array of injury issues, not bad at all. A great platform has been set for the important part of the season.

Love his want to dominate and score but hopefully he understands that it was selfish and couldn’t hurt to watch Tom Hawkins.
There was a point where he was at the 50m line and was gonna kick it but handballed instead.

You could see the instinct then the decision process in real time.

Hahaha that's just hilarious. Goes for a gut shot then becomes a flailing fish.

Finishing top 2 is absolutely critical... avoids that trip to Sydney.

With the GF played in Melbourne I'd back us to beat them on the G. Finishing 3rd or 4th (or lower) means you'll likely have to beat them up there to make the grand final which is almost impossible. The way they play that smaller SCG ground + home crowd makes it a tough road trip.

They have hardly had a single injury to this point. Hoping their luck runs out about round 20.
Not sure finishing 3rd is that disastrous if it's a Victorian side that finishes 2nd. In fact no difference at all.

Also on the expected score, we were so poor from the kickouts last night and clearing our back half in that third quarter that many of the behinds and repeat shots may not have happened if Essendon had just scored some goals and we got it back to a centre clearance and 6-6-6.

Anyone else notice Austin singing the song along with the boys in the rooms? Seemed to be the only club official doing so.

I loved seeing that.

''Curly'' Austin's son has blue blood running through his veins.... "Curly '' was the ultimate role player and the only person to keep Lea Matthews goaless[especially in a final at Waverly] whilst Mathews was in his pomp/prime... So naturally he knows all about recruiting determined well prepared role players because his dad was so role focused & matched up like a Cincotta every week ...Played on Mick Conlan too who was an athletic Beast and as fast as the wind butt stuck to his task and would totally minimise his output

It's a really difficult one for me. If we're talking pure ruckman, as in hitouts and hitouts to advantage, without looking at stats I imagine there's a fair few ahead of him.

However... What he's doing at the moment isn't exactly conventional ruck play, he's dominating in different ways. He is capable of winning more hitouts but is often going with the taking the ball out of the ruck contest to win a clearance instead or of course following up at ground level.

For overall impact I guess he's right up there.
Yes biggest difference for me is he isn't over jumping in the contest now so he can react faster at ground level and impact clearance - before he used to over jump and fall to ground or be out of position and off balance .. the hit out to advantage will improve with games

O. Hollands is an interesting one. Only the 10 touches but felt like he was involved in some key contests and of course runs all day. He definitely had the fight and intensity in his game that he had last year where he punches above his weight, so that's something.
He worries me with guys like gulden Fredrick's etc until he gains some size ..sounds harsh but I prefer cotterell at present

Where is the guarantee that a Vic side will finish 2nd?

If we want to make it to the gf finishing 2nd is so important. Getting to stay at home and get the week off is the only thing that got Collingwood into the gf last year.

I've been critical of Ollie this year, but I thought he was good Sunday night. Stats may not show it, but especially early ran hard to the right spots, put his head over the ball and gave us something. His kicking and decision making was far better too.
