Cincotta as a tagger and Williams as a forward are now 2 options we have that we didn’t at the beginning of the season.

I’ve heard every Wednesday now the CFC Selection Committee have their weekly Big Footy Learnings discussion.

Williams forward = BF.
Harry & Charlie swapping into the wing = BF
Cincotta a tagging mid = BF.
TDK the stand-alone ruck = BF.

Our job now is to help them manage Cerra, Martin & Motlop back into the team.

This weird narrative surrounding Essendon and how well they did in this game, is beyond me. Jonathan Brown On The Couch was more impressed by Essendon.

As a stats lover, I still subscribe to the mantra, there are lies, damn lies and statistics and this is one of those occasions.

We controlled that game, seldom slipping into top gear IMO, and now Essendon are the English Cricket team after another moral victory.

No they can’t. We had our stars play average and we won by 5 goals

It's interesting that Voss was bewildered by the HTB rule against the Suns. Both he and Hardwick complained about the lack of reward for the tackler that day (rightly so). Other coaches moaned as well, so they adjusted the interpretation.

What it does IMO is advantage players with that initial burst of speed (really only that first 5 metres off the mark). Our guys have traditionally relied more on brute strength to wriggle free and dish off. The players with that extra burst can either break free themselves, or apply an opposition tackle that fraction quicker. Someone else mentioned that Walsh may have lost half a yard since the back op, which wouldn't be helping him obviously.

Around the ground we are not particularly hurt, and maybe even helped by the rule adjustment, as we have added some speed in the right areas (and can add more with Martin, Motlop, Cottrell). It's why Cinc's addition to the mix is important.

If I had to identify one area of concern compared to the current benchmark (with a view to winning the flag), it would be that Warner, Heeney, Rowbottom and Gulden seem more suited to the rule adjustment than our guys.
