I don't like seeing an excuse in the thread title, plenty of teams have to deal with a 5 day break.
We are currently a long way off a premiership team.
There's still time to turn it around, but it isn't looking promising.
No team has played a 5 day break all season outside of Thursday games (where it is unavoidable)

Yeah nah, 5 day turn around doesn't make you kick to 2 on 1 everytime. We generally have some low IQ football players out there tonight.
Yep. At one stage cottrell plays on and kicks to a 1 on 2, and our 1 is owies.......WHY!!!!!!
And cottrell wasn't the only one
So ok 5 day break, TDK, Harry, ok ok.

But. ****.

We can’t move the ball. The whole second half there was no discernible plan or idea as to what to do.

Where the hell is the team we were only 4-5 weeks ago?

(I only saw second half, have NO inkling based on what I saw how we were in front)
Acres was a HUGE out. Takes away that run and carry

It's endless, once again beaten for speed.
Like beating your head against a brick wall.
We are slow and undersized down back.

Weitering goes down we are a bottom 6 team. Only reason the backline is getting a free ride is because we have been winning the ball in the middle and have Charlie and Harry.

It is classic bullet hole wound that we are putting a band aid over in hope.

I have several issues.

We can't take an intercept mark for shit at the moment. Newman's dropping marks, Gov's dropping marks; Kemp and Jacob are about the only ones who are contributing there, and Kemp turns the ****ing thing over half the time. Whatever we used to do, whatever system we used to have; it's been figured out. Opposition are playing through Kemp or Gov's man, and it's hurting us badly.

Tonight, we missed Acres sorely; another hard body, with more zip than the others round the ball. Using Kennedy as solely a forward almost worked, but we needed him round the ball.

Boyd is a defender; Cerra is not. Both of them are good kicks, but only one of them minds a man worth a damn and seemingly doesn't cough it up under back half pressure.

I do not ever want the rub of the green. I don't ****ing want any of it. I spit at it. I bite my thumb at it. It never lasts, and it'll burn you more often than it helps. Tonight, they got an awful lot of assistance from frees in quarters 3 and 4, but make no mistake we got our lead in the second courtesy of softness personified. That they seemingly dived their way to shots on goal should serve as no salve; be better. Take the umps out of it. Look at the up hill charge, grit your teeth, and go through it.

13 players out also hurts. Shouldn't continue to happen.

I'm looking at the club, and I'm wondering why I give them so much emotion, so much of my time and my worry. I'm looking at the AFL, whose tinkering has transformed this game into the circuses part of the bread and circus aphorism.

Exactly, nice living outside Australia so I can just turn it off. I don't invest nearly as much as I used to. It ain't worth the dissappointment.

Jack Martin better be playing in the VFL this week. I mean, i know lewis young as a fwd meant he could back up ruck but FML NEVER AGAIN. added nothing. he isnt a forward its not his fault ffs. easy now its over to say 'should have tried ANYONE ELSE'
Dumb selection choices AGAIN!!!!
Yes the 5 day break and injury list don't help but SMH

Young gets scared at his own shadow. Utterly deplorable but not alone in that category.

**** this season and all the injuries. We had nothing left in the whole second half. No burst, no spark, no energy. A 5 day turnaround compared to Port's 7 is ridiculous at this stage of the season.

I was critical of players during the game, but this was a collective flop. The scheduling was unfair.

Except it wasn't 7. Brayshaw kept saying that but he was making it up. We played Saturday night, you played sunday Arvo. Like happens every week.

Same blokes keep doing it!!. Harry was a huge out.
But cmon
Ollie hollands
Brodie kemp
Cottrell
Motlop
Owies
Cunningham
Carroll
Need to seriously wake up they constantly have moments throughout every game.

Please bring back and heal
Acres
Boyd
Tdk
Williams
Mckay
Martin.
Marchbank does he get a good look in at the 2nd key as well? With a month remaining we need to be better against the big forwards.

Either way, late Sunday to Friday night is a bridge too far. We are so banged up and had nothing to give for the whole second half. We haven't seen that this year at all.

Love you all

Not certain what's more disappointing.

The umpires gifting them 80% of their score or

The fact that we just rolled over and died. Again.
We lost two of our last three games with a 30 point plus lead. Can't see us recovering from here. What happened to Russell and our so called fitness?

I’m most concerned with Cerra’s form. Also disappointed that Pitto got so badly worked over physically by Sweet. Carroll is never going to make it. He’s not a player that we can rely on at this level. Sadly, Cunners career (with us at least) should be over with this latest setback. Kemp still an enigma. Gov and Motps bad but I’ll back them to get better. I still think we can make this season special but it needs to start next week.
