Okay Moir in. I am a bit surprised but we are limited especially forward

After a slow start this year and no pre season he has really started to improve and build. Needs at least one pre season

No one can doubt the ability. Gut feel is he will be sub

I would prefer that if we play him, play him from the start and play him deep inside 50

The early reports on his VFL form were underwhelming but seems he is building.

My gut feel with a player like Moir is he may be one of those that is more suited to AFL senior level than scrapping it out in the Magoos (I think Motlop is a bit the same).

A debut on the wide expanses of Optus may suit him (if it's dry)

Having grieved out season, I am now excited to get a peak at the kids.

WCE is a pretty good team for them to debut against as they are also young, so less of a boys vs men feel

He can play all day inside 50 (or inside our F half). As crazy as that sounds, at some point, WC will not leave him unattended on turnover. This way he is not expending energy. Up to our mids to provide some defensive cover

Let's give Billy Wilson a go.

Corey Durds needs to get his body right and start to believe in himself before he plays again. Has the tools to be a solid contributor. Needs a big pre season and some confidence pills.

Billy deserves a look and hopefully would thrive given the opportunity. Got nothing to lose by giving him a chance.

How I hope we line up:

B: Cincotta Young McGovern
HB: Cowan Weitering Newman
C: Acres Cripps Binns
HF: Elijah Kennedy Williams
F: Moir Kemp Motlop
Foll: Pittonet Lord Walsh
Int: Hewett Carroll Owies Ollie (Durdin)
Agree - some xfactor in the forward line to compensate for the lack of anything resembling a KPF. Hope it rains like hell.

Looks like it's heading that way Soap. All things being equal, Durds would be in the 22 - still a fan of his when he's fit - but very underdone and wouldn't be selected if we weren't smashed with injuries. Sub makes sense.

I'd still like to find a spot for big Lem, just for a little more height and give him a taste of senior footy. Gives us the additional ruck option as well to pinch hit when Pitto's off. Not sure on the latest weather outlook, but if it looks reasonable, bring the big lug in :thumbsu:

what will be interesting watch is our inside 50s, could be a blessing that we can't look for Charlie and Harry all the time and actually have to think about it.

My gut feel is we will make Moir the sub but fingers crossed he plays.

Lemmey is great in theory but I reckon his lack of competitiveness still counts against him.

I am actually really looking forward to playing a smaller more mobile forward line where we just don't bomb it to Charlie or Harry

I have heard from 2 seperate people who usually have decent intel. Haven’t heard who it could be, but was also told, and have seen posted on here, that a few players are sore. Hence why I’m asking

Haven't seen or heard anything but we should find out on Sunday.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is a late change.

I haven't heard anyone "doubtful" but have been told that Walsh Acres Pittonet Williams are all being nursed through the week to be able to play

Only issue is Acres shoulder is buggered and he can't lift it properly

I think wings will be Acres & Binns and they will play Ollie as HF/extra winger
The ol’ chest mark! Acres gets into good positions in the forward line.

C.Durd’s had one of his better games vs WCE before (though has been ordinary most of the past 2 seasons).
Smaller forward line and ground ball entries - sure PTA played a similar game at Optus on a wet day/night in recent seasons.

Owies as the leading FF, Motlop, Durd’s, Owies, ZW + Moir.

Can’t see wholesale positional changes to the line-up (as nice as that would be), so likely Young to FF & forward ruck duties.

2 questions if I may SV:

How long has his shoulder been buggered? This is 2023 all over again. I thought he had surgery over the summer

While I'm at it...what was Moir's injury that precluded him from having a full preseason?

Acres been carrying it for at least a month. More surgery coming

Moir had hip issues in final Under 18 year. He was okay when arriving but Russell and co had him on specialised program to improve "weaknesses" around this area. I was told during pre season that plan all along was to get him right and build him up slowly during year and then have a full pre season 24/25. He really hasn't done proper fitness work in 2 years. They weren't expecting him to play Seniors this year. Just by what I saw he would have done less than 50% of pre season with main group.

Looks like they were right and it's working well
