Alright, that's enough.

The next poster who thinks they should have a crack at an individual or a collective reaction to this game is going to find themselves threadbanned. Terms like 'bleaters' or 'shit posters' will see things escalated further.

Let's discuss our views on the match without getting the knives out, please.

You just proved my point again. Celebrate what? Losing a 5 goal lead in the wet against a team with 1 day less recovery.

I guess just accepting mediocrity is OK with some people.

Acceptance of mediocrity? You do realise we beat a top 4 side, a side that demolished an unbeaten side the previous week

To think we should probably be 8-1 and sitting on top of the ladder tonight, but we'll end the round 5th and Pies will most likely be 6th at the end of the round (1 game off top 4).

We've beaten GWS, Melbourne and Brisbane this year which is great.. but stuff me if you look at our next block of games we aren't guaranteed a shoe in for any;

Sydney away
Suns home (see Adelaide game and they're bloody talented and it'll click soon)
Port away
* (always a 50/50)
Bye
Geelong again!!!
Richmond (who just have this edge over us when we should win)
Giants away
Bulldogs (who knows... our luck Bevo will be sacked week before so we'll get them on the sacked coach bounce)

This mentality here.

So used to mediocrity you have no idea what a winning culture looks like anymore.

Keep laughing, the rest of the league is laughing at us with you.
Anyone neutral reading this is laughing at your throw the toys out of the cot reaction.

Every week is different. Next week we might get a few more back , have an 8 day break and towell up the swans up there.

Does to me. We were great for 3 quarters. We deserved it more than they did.
Indeed. How many times in years gone by were we the ones smashed early and left to do a late run down only to fall short? "Honorable losses", heh.

The same unrelentingly daft balance between run and contested work.

The same unrelentingly egotistical behaviour from Cripps and Walsh to demand the football when they don't deserve it, and to try and take on the game in situations that do not call for it.

The same unrelentingly arrogance to flog elite endurance runners into the ground instead of spreading some of the load through selection, management of minutes when they push themselves anaerobically, and not rolling the dice so much with underdone and athletically incapable players.

Shall I keep going?
Your reaching - a long way!

Where do you expect these magical new running players to come from? Who would you have played instead?

Cripps and Walsh aren’t perfect - but how is trying your guts out arrogance?

Arrogance for not spreading the load - who exactly do you think we have waiting in the wings?

Would you prefer we spread the load & lose?

Sorry but that’s a very weird rant.

Some really poor takes here.

Games against the Dees have been like this since Kozzi beat us late in 2022. I think the margin has been a point each time we’ve met.

We were enormous for the three quarters. Cez’s hammy hurt us because he was having a blinder. They got their second win just as Hewett was subbed on.

And frankly we held up in defence. They arsed a couple of goals and got some dubious free kicks and found a third wind.

It happens.

But we won. And right now, while we’re going through this form slump, you take the win and you be proud of it because the Dees are not Norf or Richmond, they’re a top four side.

And if all the talk is about Trac, who did have a monster game (he loves playing us) then fine. I’m still proud of the boys. And I’m happy for the win.

Bloody hell, it’s madness that I even have to justify all that. Why can’t we be happy when we win even if the footy is less than perfect?

Pretty happy all told. We went defensive too early rather than going for the goal or two that would have broken them...and Melbourne had everything break their way in the last 10 minutes.

Outstanding from Weitering, Cincotta, Walsh and Owies...and shouldn't let a couple of moments overshadow Ollie's good effort.

Solid from Kemp, Charlie found ways to contribute, and Acres his normal industrious self.

They're laughing at the fact we're celebrating like we won a prelim.
How many times do we have to let teams get closer than we should before people realise we are nowhere near contending right now.

Way to celebrate a win against a top 4 side

Enjoy the win, games like this are never going to be a blow out
The chiron as the players were going into the rooms to sing the song. Our last 8 meetings with Melbourne have been decided by 5 points or less. It was always going to be close despite what some people think. Also, Melbourne won a premiership 3 years ago... with a lot of these players.
