As seen in the other thread, Tom Morris is reporting Luko has chosen Port
Not overly disappointed if true. I think he would have been a handy addition, but I was worried we would give up a first rounder for him.

If we bring in Cumming, ANB, gun mid with pick 4 and Welsh and hopefully we can then work out a way to get Dodson and that would be a very solid off season.

Typical. Port will always out do us when it comes to trading and drafting and attracting players to their club. Another missing piece to Ports 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle

Pretty embarrassing we’ve missed Luko. Crows fan growing up, been into him since he was drafted, he’s coming reasonably cheap (when you compare what it would have cost in his draft year).

We have picks and money for him. Team that should be on the up.

And he ends up landing at our cross town rivals after they embarrass themselves in finals and look ready to flick their coach.

He’s a hell of a lot better than Petty we tried to sell the fam for.

Fine to say he’s not a priority, midfield is. But that only works if we’re actually trading in a superstar midfielder this year.

We blew our chance with Luko a long time ago. The only reason he even gave us a consideration was because GC was pushing him out the door. If he ended up at West Lakes it was because everything went wrong for him.

Care to share?

Because we didn't draft him?

Yeah i'm 50/50 with it, but realistically we KNOW he's always wanted a Forward role, that's straight from the horses mouth. Crows fan growing up, but best mates with Rozee, and heading to Port who can offer him a forward role.

He's spent the better part of 5 years getting d!cked around at GC, but he's also had major form issues too.

My guess is that IF we had a position for him in our forward line we would have had the $$'s to satisfy him, and picks to satisfy GC, then he would have picked us.

It's all well and good for us to say that we'd put him on a wing or whatever, but if he has a strong desire to be in the forward line then there's really not much for him to decide there, is it?

We've had a crack at Luko before, and I think the general consensus has been that he hasn't actually wanted to come back to SA at all, by all reports he's loved it up there...

That being said If Cumming chooses Port I'll be furious....

I don't see the Lukosious move as a fail for us.
Port have a much bigger need for a player like him than we do. He's not a player that was going to shift the needle for us, so no point selling the farm for him.
Most positively, it removes the likelihood that we would trade pick 4. Sometimes you need others to save us from our own stupidity.

He will fit well at Port.

No, but we clearly dodged a bullet

I think we dodged a bullet with Redman as well

I'd just like us to be an attractive destination for players and have the ability to get moves done when we set our eye on them

Where does that leave Perryman and Cumming in all this now that Luko has picked Port?
I know Luko isnt a need but the club just had to land him.. we are falling way behind port. It will eventually click for port and they will win a flag. they just about have the best midfield. they are a new coach, a KPF and KPD away from being a powerhouse IMO. Like someone mentioned above, its becoming very hard supporting the crows. I have no faith in the off field team.. there needs to be a complete clean out at board level and the recruiting department
