Atrocious deal for Port (funny, but atrocious). Unsurprised they aren't going through with it.

I doubt Port would've leaked that proposed deal information to Twomey.

Probably Collingwood or Gold Coast, who want to move things along.

Its irony is once Houston said no to us there bargaining power diminished magnificiently.

There are a few boys in the SANFL I would pick before Atkins.

On a side note Adelaide have done well this trade period, it seems no one will bid on young Welsh which is surprising.
what are your honest thoughts on petracca and oliver? media beatup or concerned?

Can't say I'm surprised.
You know when you get really excited when you go to buy something and realise that the tag is either wrong or the person putting it through the register enters it wrong and its way less than you were expecting to pay and you just want to hurry up, close the deal and get out of there like a bandit. Thats how I felt when I saw this deal for them as it was going to trash them for next year and not really get them into the top end hitting zone this year...a bad news story for them all round. So to see that deal whipped away at the last minute...well its rather deflating 🤣

One of the great days potentially:

Atkins, the spud, rumoured to Power whose fans hated him as a player.

Soldo, fails to get pass Saints medical testing, and now stuck seemingly unhappily at Port. Can’t imagine anyone else will touch him and he doesn’t want to be there. And is surplus to their needs

Outside of crows related stuff, it doesn’t get much better than that

But this is a joke- such Geelong favoured commentary. (1) no risk identified of cats not getting him, (2) he isn’t “free” as still costs the same likely draft pick and (3) blames bullies despite cats constantly offering under in trades

The prospect of Bailey Smith being walked to the draft in November remains alive, with the Western Bulldogs and Geelong seemingly at an impasse.

The Cats have put forward pick 17 for Smith, but the Bulldogs want a better deal for the 23-year-old.

But with Smith uncontracted, the Cats have the option of simply not completing a deal during the trade period and instead picking up Smith in the draft next month.

"I still see a way, and I think it's at least a 50-50 chance, that it is through the mechanism of the draft," AFL.com.au's Damian Barrett said this morning on AFL Daily.

"I don't see a way where it's even any worry for the Cats. They will get him, for nothing, through the draft.
Surely Richmond or North take him if he goes to the PAD, is he’s seriously going to sit out of football for another season??

I doubt it!

The problem for port here is that they delusionally think they hold the cards..

They actually dont..

They committed to Luko.. from that moment they locked themselves into having to get Houston out to follow through on the luko deal..

Other clubs know this.. and are using it to squeeze them at the negotiation table..

They’ve ****ed themselves.

No matter how much they desperately try and say they havent.. They’ve shopped houston.. everyone knows it.
And as soon as you shop a player around you lose the upoer hand.

They can do a future first for Luko and get the deal done

Still, I know they are better WITH Houston, but if he stays, its their f1 that goes in the Luko deal and that is another 2 drafts they are out of at the top end (I know they can do things next year but they are coming from a weaker position without their F1). So it works for us outsiders to see them burn their F1 on Luko as in the long run, its harder to get another JHF or Butters for them
