Yeah, I completely disagree.I hate to break it to you, but he played full back on that Glenelg behemoth because he was our tallest available defender that week.
And he moved away from there as soon as we had another option. No other vision or planning involved. As simple as that.
Needs to work on his key defending was just us desperately trying to justify what was simply a "win this Saturday" decision - which all of our decisions are.
Yeah, no shit a young players need to work on stuff. Typically clubs with a clue keeps things simple for young players rather than shunting them all over the place. They work on a few things over a period of time. Rather than every single thing in a short space of time
Obviously we don't care about the results in the SANFL. We're not making decisions to try and win SANFL games - we've never seemed to care that much about that. At most we want to be competitive so the younger players are developing in a decent system.
He was in the SANFL working on defensive positioning in one on one contests, because he'd been exposed at the top level. As that developed, he got more and more offensive responsibility. It seems obvious what was happening.
Complain that Nicks cares too much about defensive commitment - but it's obvious that he prioritises it in what a player needs to do.
Anyway - it's pointless discussing it any further. Any discussion that isn't "they're all incompetent" goes nowhere.
