I hate to break it to you, but he played full back on that Glenelg behemoth because he was our tallest available defender that week.

And he moved away from there as soon as we had another option. No other vision or planning involved. As simple as that.

Needs to work on his key defending was just us desperately trying to justify what was simply a "win this Saturday" decision - which all of our decisions are.

Yeah, no shit a young players need to work on stuff. Typically clubs with a clue keeps things simple for young players rather than shunting them all over the place. They work on a few things over a period of time. Rather than every single thing in a short space of time
Yeah, I completely disagree.

Obviously we don't care about the results in the SANFL. We're not making decisions to try and win SANFL games - we've never seemed to care that much about that. At most we want to be competitive so the younger players are developing in a decent system.

He was in the SANFL working on defensive positioning in one on one contests, because he'd been exposed at the top level. As that developed, he got more and more offensive responsibility. It seems obvious what was happening.

Complain that Nicks cares too much about defensive commitment - but it's obvious that he prioritises it in what a player needs to do.

Anyway - it's pointless discussing it any further. Any discussion that isn't "they're all incompetent" goes nowhere.

Lol, that’s just bullshit, have you witnessed any of it? You said 10 times a day, are they buying 10 coffees a day or is they are visiting hotel foyers daily or flying every day?

I’ve seen clubs travelling interstate and they are left alone. The only time I’ve seen anyone actually being mobbed by strangers is Harley Reid this year at the Perth airport and that was to get photos and autographs.

How many football supporters would recognise someone like Marco Bello?

GK, would agree with you, the coaching staff wouldn’t get approached much but the players certainly could.

I go to Next Gen and see players regularly working out - they rarely get approached. I’ve also seen the coaches in the cafe there and guess what, they have been left in peace.

When did that interaction happen with Marco, early in the season or later?

It’s because you’re digging your heels in no matter how many times I’ve explained it. He never said “he won’t play at half back against Port”. He asked me where I would play him against Port, I said half back. He then named the Port half forwards, said they were all quick players and would you play Curtin on them? I said no, on Gorgiadis, he then said Gorgiadis plays deep justifying why they are playing Curtin deep in defence teaching him how to defend.

Based on his comments I took it he wouldn’t play at half back against Port.

Surely that’s not that hard to comprehend?

Why did he play half back against Port? Maybe as he had a good game against North, maybe they responded to the external noise calling for him to play. Maybe because Bello isn’t on the selection committee, I have no idea if he is or not. Maybe the selectors despite their misgivings thought they’d try him.

What we know is they picked him at half back. He played ok, was subbed out. Started against Brisbane, their fears were realised, he was subbed out. Was developed as midfielder afterwards, brought back in round 20 as a mid and hasn’t played half back for the seniors again.

Last time I’m going to explain it for you. If you don’t get it now you’re either not as bright as you think you are or you’re just downright stubborn and borrowing from my boxing analogy, trying to point score.

Mate - its okay to admit you bungled it and were 100% wrong. You were wrong back in May and your little story doesn't fix it.

If you remember it - You said the following three things:

1. Wright was lying to the media and Murphy would come straight back in - 100% Wrong
2. Based on your chat with Marco - Curtin wouldn't get a game - 100% wrong.
3. After Curtin came in - you said he wouldn't play at half back - 100% wrong.

Am I misquoting you in any of these three predictions?

I then said the following:

Huh? There is hidden reasoning that you can't share on here, but told some others in a PM?

Sounds to me like you either made up a source - or your source completely screwed ya over.

You said that Wright was lying just so we could justify bringing in Murphy. 100% wrong.
You said that Curtin was no chance of coming in. 100% wrong.

Its okay to say you got it wrong mate.

Looks to me as though I was correct back in May and your mate Marco (who loves to talk to you and only stopped because your friends were desperate to get you back) screwed ya over by feeding ya bulshit.

Its okay. You can have the delusion that you and Marco are BFF's and he was enthralled by your knowledge of the inner workings of the AFC. Like no fan before - you enthralled him with your wisdom and strategic thinking and he absolutely loved talking to you.

What does that have to do with old mate Marco taking your friend Elite Crow for a trip down bullshit alley?
Would have thought it’s pretty obvious?
They changed their minds. Someone came up with a brilliant thought a few days out.

We know how difficult the AFL Trade Guru's find getting info out of ADEL .....we're a closed shop in the main

As if a Club Development Manager is going to reveal to a random stranger, the innermost thinking of the Club on any player, or subject ......it just requires a degree of common sense thinking

But everyone wants to claim they have inside sources .....or they're just gullible

Good luck to you Froggy. If you want to believe that a coach of the Crows told a random fan on a Friday night our true plans for Curtin and then the club completely changed their mind over the next few days.

Would think its pretty obvious that Marco fed your mate some Grade A bullshit.

But Wayne - you don't understand. Marco was having the best time talking to Elite Crow even though he was too thick to realize he was losing the verbal boxing match 9-1. He was so surprised and impressed that Elite would even question his mundane answers that he spilled all the beans. Then the club radically changed their strategy 2 days later (probably because Marco told them about Elite's suggestions on how better to develop Curtin).

Again, if George was being combative, and scoring the rounds .....that's another reason why Marco would clam up .....he most probably gave George diversionary information

As a Development Manager, he's experienced to read different personality types in players ....and structure his interactions accordingly

No one knows what the truth is but the way they have handled him probably points to him telling the truth.

According to George - Marco was loving the interaction. 15 minutes of thrilling discussion. George's friends got lonely and had to force George to end the discussion. Marco had no idea he was in a verbal boxing match - probably because he was so surprised that George had dedicated his life to fixing the Crows problems (paraphrasing his words)

Why? I’m not defending George?

Smart and Loyal.

I didn’t think the accusations were that George was lying?

My accusation was lying or fed bullshit. (latter proved to be correct)

Why does it make a difference what bello said to him?

Look at the posts between me and George. Its pretty relevant.

If you want to discuss the treatment of Curtin - thats a whole other discussion (which I am probably in agreeable with you).

We should have brought in a tall top up player to play full back instead... so we can play our AFL players in their preferred position.

Was obvious with the team picked we had no choice but to play Curtin as a key defender.

Many posters have pointed out repeatedly why Nicks isn't competent with regard to game plan strategy, yet you continue to come up with excuses that make no sense. Nicks' poor coaching record speaks for itself!

You are correct that being incompetent means we will go nowhere, which is why so many were annoyed when AFC extended Nicks as we are going nowhere!

Our only hope is with Davis taking over the game plan strategy coming from a successful club, which is basically covering up Nicks isn't up to the job.

They said we would draft Draper & Welsh... which is what we did!

Wasn't that hard...

No shit!

Yet you claimed it was hard.

Re-read your post.
Quote my post where I commented on the draftees ....because that's news to me

I chose the same two players with 15 minutes of research ....wasn't hard for anyone to workout

They said we would draft Draper & Welsh... which is what we did!

Says everyone knew Crows would get Draper.

Honestly no one except those closely involved really knows the drafting preferences of clubs.

There is plenty of false information out there too.

I'm not too fussed as there will be a gun midfielder at pick #4.

Two weeks before the draft had no idea who we would get.

I also said numerous times i expected us to take Draper once we knew what the 1st 3 clubs were doing with their picks.. particularly Carlton taking Jagga.

I mentioned this many times in the week of the draft. Everyone here knows I was on record.

After Crows v North SANFL game which was played same time as Crows v North Tassie game in round 5.

The convo actually started when I asked him whats going down at the club “what do you mean, we won today” I responded with we beat North and we are 1-5, it went from there into discussing the change in gameplan.
