No, I don't read the AFLW forum ....I find it's effectively hidden

Well if you did, you'd see that my posting is pretty fair and reasonable considering where both of our sides are at

Women's - most successful team in the history of the competition, multiple elite superstar players, in contention every year

Men's - haven't made finals in 7 years, finished 15th five years into a rebuild

I have always given the club credit where it deserves credit. The women's team deserves praise and credit. The men's program does not.

I'm very aware of what a good football team looks like because I watch the only currently successful Crows team all the time

You do know ....they're simply issue's you have around selection ....which every supporter varies on

It doesn't mean your POV is correct ....nor does it mean it impacted results, or development

It is not fact !
An opinion yes, a correct one though.
2 moments those blokes won’t get back.

Yes one that was easily avoidable.
In a team sorely lacking experienced players, you can probably understand why Nicks was reticent to catapult all of our experience in one hit. Even having them in the twos for development roles could be a bonus. Whether he's on a rookie or main list is probably a moot point, given that we can play Rookies now without having to elevate them.

I'm not criticising the club, I'm saying that posters who said they'd be happy to give up pick 4 (or more) for Pickett are crazy.

The club avoiding chances to take midfielders with high picks is well documented though
Even Rachele not really a mid and never was a midfield candidate at time of drafting.

We are yet to use a top ten draft pick on a legit midfielder.

Come on Jen we dropped him for the last half of the year.
He’s supposedly hit the trigger by 2 games!

Spitballing but I would not be averse to this

IF our F1 is required in a Lukosius deal if he picks us, then I would be pushing to get Rosas included as steak knives with any pick balancing needed.

I would then also be open to trading Sholl if he was open to a move as he is coming off a solid season and would certainly hold trade value and the reason for this is as follows,

Rosas coming in would slot into a forward pocket and add real spark there, ANB and keays then occupy the half forward roles as real hard running both way offensive and defensive forwards. Around them you have Thilthorpe at FF, Fog at CHF and can run one of the resting mids in the other forward pocket. Rosas would crucially also enable Izan and Josh to be almost full time mids with only short resting stints needed up forward and that will strengthen our midfield along with the top mid we take at 4 in this draft.

Trading Sholl works as IF luko is coming in, he occupies one wing and Curtin occupies the other. Imagine the forwards leading to their kicking inside 50.

Not really worth pondering, given Sholl re-signed this year

Rosas would be a good get, but I reckon he’s on the move to somewhere else if he does move

Why do you think that?

Adelaide would be as good as any other option for a player not considered best 22 at their present club.

Obviously knows Izak well so there's that as well because you can bet if we have interest Izak will be involved.

How can we be sure Smiths trigger wasn’t based over life of his contract compared to just the last year?
Any trigger would include total games played . Its why he didnt have to play 18-23 this year

His previous 3 years he played 64 games . Yes Im guessing but I reckon Im close. But I guess 75 games over 4 years was his mark.

This allows for any injuries to bite into an 88 game margin while protecting the club if he gets a long term injury

He played 15 this year to take him to 79. 75 has to be the mark because he didnt reach 80 and 75 seems like a fairly fair number

I hope we’re in the market for him but I just struggle to see how we have the list spots for him if we’re also keen on grabbing a ruckman or using another late first rounder.

Reasonable guess I think and you may well be right - but could have also been 70 games just as easily which still equates to 17.5 per year (just under 80% of available games)

We just don’t know the facts but to leave such a player - long term stalwart type player who is a “cultural fabric” guy, played just under 250 games and AA and played at a high level for a decade - stranded a game or 2 short of a trigger would be very poor don’t you agree? Both ethically and perhaps even legally (breaching some possible term of a contract - I don’t know but guessing here). His Manager certainly would have kicked up a massive fuss and media would have been all over it.

Crows have had lots of negative PR in recent years - camp, Tippett, lots of shit - I am glad we didn’t leave someone like Smith a game or 2 below his trigger just because we could have. There would undoubtedly be further player cultural issues when you start doing that and Smithers has always been up there as the most popular guy in the team from my understanding (taking the weekly interviews on afc.com.au, lots of social functions at his and parents house etc).

Things aren’t always as black and white as many make out.
