Dubai Quacker will be beside himself about Edwards and Miller

grimlock was mentioned elsewhere that Lewy Taylor had recruited Nick Shipley.

Do they normally name the VFL listed players in November after final lodgement of AFL list? Or maybe later on, into the new yer even? I don't recall the timing of the announcement from the last couple of years.

Dubai Quacker has been busy again scouting Claremont players for the Swans

Wow, we now have Sheldrick, Buller, Edwards, Miller all from the mighty Claremont Tigers!

Edwards is a strong, rugged mid. Gets a lot of the pill and will provide some real grunt in the mids.

I must admit, I know bugger all about Steve Miller. He played in the WAFL Reserves most of the year & I don't think I've seen him play. Evidently the Swans have seen something though.

Only slight disappointment - we didn't give Oliver Sheldrick a run.

It'll be interesting to see if the Claremont connection fades a bit now Pyke has departed. I hope not!

If we somehow draft Curtin, ZZ, Fonti or Sam Van Rooyen - it'll be party time in the DQ household.

Claremont is a mean club. Edwards and Miller are already off their list.

Just 2 games in seniors for Miller. Was a KPD in 2022 but now backup ruck?

Spoke to an assistant at Frankston and he had massive raps on Roseby , hard at it as a defensive forward and coaches loved his attitude

If one of these players is sensational and we want him to play Seniors, does he have to go through the draft, or do we have "dibs" on him? Can we rookie him?

There is an update on Nick Shipley, he’s staying on with the VFL team and will play for Terang Mortlake when there are VFL byes.

As in staying with our VFL side? That’s great news, if so. He didn’t have his best season in 2023 - punctuated as it was by injuries - but he is a class above most of the VFL listed players we are able to attract with the paltry salary cap available and ongoing lack in depth of locally born and raised talent.

As a side note, it continues to boggle my mind why there need to be so many byes in a league where there are so many more teams than rounds.

I understand that all 44 players on the list are rarely if ever all available for selection, but if you take a feasible senior 22 (23) when Mills is fit of ...

Rampe - Hamling - Lloyd
Blakey - McCartin - Florent
Gulden - Adams - Campbell
Heeney - McDonald - Parker
Papley - Amartey - Hayward
Grundy - Ch. Warner - Mills
I/C: Cunningham - McInerney - Rowbottom - McLean - Sub: Fox

If the reserves play the day or two after the seniors and the sub (Fox) only got a few minutes and backs up in the 2nds, it means a huuuuuge team ...

Vickery - Melican - Edwards
Arnold - Francis - Fox
Mitchell - Cleary - Jordon
Co. Warner - Reid - McAndrew
Konstanty - Buller - Wicks
Ladhams - Sheldrick - Roberts
I/C: Snell - Green - Magor - Kirk

That's a whole lot of big boppers in a 22.

EDIT: 10 out of the 22 that could be classed as ruck/KPD/KPF size.
