Yes totally! Smalls that can hold their own is the easy part.

We need another crumber to support Papley and Wicks. Imo we can’t carry two mainly marking mid sized target types in Heaney and Hayward.

Hopefully Parker/Adams/Gus replace Hayward.

Poor old Will copping it in the reserves thread as well.

How many 24 or younger in the league have played more than 137 games and kicked more than 159 goals?

My guess would be not a lot.

Mmm Konstanty?

Alao, think Hayward is unfairly a whipping boy here.

Does what is required and can be exceptionally useful as a releasing mark

We run an air focussed forward line. At times during a game we run three talls, 2 mediums and one small. I just don’t think it works. Reckon we need 2-3 smalls on the fwd line at all times.

The chronic yips possessed Hayward again in 2023. We pay a high price for the odd mark he may take as an outlet.

I haven't seen any of Buller beyond that one game so will take your word for it.

McDonald should be the roaming forward pressing up, just hasn't consistently materialised due to Ried and Buddy, but I also think that is his go.

Amerty when he doesn't drift out of games seems quite happy to crash packs, happy to see McLean doing more of that as the year progressed.

As long as our talls can bring it to ground like Mccartin used to, if you remember those early days where we chided Longmire abit for his role being to bring it to ground, our smalls are quite strong.

Our tall forwards are our only question mark, I think our defenders will be OK. Even Ladhams and Reid could feature in 2024, could be fascinating up front.
Buller strong on the lead when I've seen him. Good hands. Fair second efforts.

yep and has decent pace … second and third efforts will improve with a professional pre season.

VFL season will have the same 21 teams playing 18 rounds , with a bye for all on the gather round weekend with the SANFL playing the VFL somewhere in SA .
The standalones will play each other twice .
Port Melbourne to be the big improver .
Band aids out, having standalone play each other twice doesn’t fix the elephant in the room.

Well, if stand alones playing each other twice, what about having AFL aligned clubs play some clubs twice as well !!!
Not to mention at least playing everyone once.

Why on earth do they only play 18 games. Would have thought a minimum of 20.

As I have him on ignore, I have no idea who he is putting down. Out of curiosity, is there anyone he hasn't/doesn't criticise?

That'll please those that think we have too many tall defenders now.

Can play up forward too, may be more likely.

Might be prep for MSD or next years SSP, if we decide to cull the list of KPDs based on how they go.
