Hi, just interested to see if this deal would work for you guys? It requires us having a backbone and Houston giving up on Collingwood but it’s much better for Port

GC 13 for Saints F1/F2

Saints 7 + 13 for North 2

North 7 + 25 for Houston

North
Lose: 2, 25
Gain: Houston, 13

Saints
Lose: F1, F2, 7
Gain: 2

Suns
Lose: 13
Gain: Saints F1, F2

Port
Lose: Houston
Gain: 7 + 25
Tbh i stopped reading at much better for Port. I personally wouldn't want to use pick 2 in the Houston trade unless we could still be around the top 6-7 this year and use our ff instead, give that to Port and let them deal with splitting it for this year if they want in this draft.

This trade period has singlehandedly ruined the future of the club..

Current completed trades; Jack Darling for Pick 67

You know it's still going?

Those lauding Carlton for their trade to WC should note they have up next year's 1st and 2nd pick plus Owies to climb 9 spots.

I'm sure that will be hearty consolation for all the Eagles fans.

Still don't think it's a bad deal for them anyway. They didn't want Owies anymore and they'll back themselves in to at least make a semi final imo

We're not going to drop that far back in this draft. Any trade will be centred around F1
Getting our 13 does mean that Collingwood is instantly out of the running for Houston and it’s either you or Port.

I think that’s why you’ve offered overs for 13, not just that it’s in demand but it makes you the only Melbourne based option for him.

I feel like Port has a weird clause with us, made from the JHF deal that is keeping us in the race for Houston.

Makes no sense we’re even interested with the lack of interest in his camp wanting to go to North

makes sense for collingwood - they're clearly going all in while they can with the pendlebury-sidebottom cohort
They caught lightning in a bottle winning in 2023.

No side with have that run of luck in close games for some time.

Please do not let us trade f1 for 13

I just can't get my head around the thought we are 1 really big draft away from wrestling the list into a very strong position, especially with the emergence of Xerri and Comben in critical roles last year.

We are in a stronger position now than we were 12 months ago in that regard.

We have a super even draft, littered with talls and small forwards suited to us outside of the top 6-7 picks.

Our major list gaps are talls and small forwards.

Yet, we look to be turning our back on it.

We should be doing everything we can to get 4-5 picks in the top 25, not getting rid of them. (And not at the expense of burning the value of a F1 or players like Caleb Daniel)

Im not opposed to splitting the 2 for a trade if it's fair value. It appears we are unlikely to get true fair value, so not getting reamed is probably what I'd settle for at this point.

Trading for any player over 24 years of age for picks in this range should be off the table imo, in this draft.

Expect tigers to offer 6 and 14 for 2

Once Rioli and Bolton done

Do we say no unless they make it 6 and 10

Or maybe 6,14 and 23 for 2 and 25
Sliding from 2 to 6 makes sense for us given the top few are midfielders and we should be looking at talls. We essentially get who we need and the sweetner. Just how big a sweetener is the question?

Given what West Coast just got for 3, I think #6 and #14 would be the best we could hope for.

I think we'd bite their hand off for 6 & 10, the only reason I think we could have the leverage for a deal like that is Richmond really wanting FOS & Lalor and Carlton now being in a position to take FOS at #3, as is rumored why they have wanted to move up.
