Exactly this. Even cop a hit on the F2 if we're that desperate - eg F2 for 2 x 3rd rounders for example.

But don't pawn the F1 which is more chance to be #1 than it is to be #9+ just to patch up the hole from the Daniel trade.
The quality of players that we want must clearly not be at those selections

This time last year, this year wasn't a "super draft".

It's not a super draft and it drives me nuts people referring to it as such. Super drafts like 2017 was viewed generally start with a big batch of absolute top end talent.

The hype around Walsh, Rankine, Lukosious, the King twins, Rozee, Smith was far higher than this year. And it had perceived depth.....

This year just has the depth, with the top end talent being behind most other years imo. That's not saying I want to get rid of Pick 2 either, as you will have more chance of nabbing a player better than most years the higher you are. See Sheezel/Wardlaw.

The Metro midfield which was Windsor, Jagga, Smillie, Ashcroft etc got absolutely pumped by McKercher, Sanders and Rogers last year. Admittedly a year makes a major difference, but it's a point of note to considering going too overboard with these statements.
Given that depth is this draft's strong suit, wouldn't we be better loading up on mid-late picks this year, and saving early picks next year to trade?

Something like 2 & F2 to Stk for 7,47,F1
F1 to GWS for 21, GWS F1

Gives us 7 (Tauru), 21 (Trainor/Hannaford/M.Whitlock), 47 (Barratt/Gerreyn), & River Stevens this year, plus two first rounders next year, neither of which is tied to our performance. About time we had no incentive to underperform.

Mentioned North have been interviewing players likely to go in the teens, suggesting we will try and get back in around there likely with our future 1st.
Also mentioned Adelaide could be interested in pick 2 , we get their pick 4 and likely a future pick

Like unless it’s a first round?
Why wouldn’t we hold or just draft Draper who they clearly rate at 2?

Apparantly it’s 4 and F3 for 2

Ah yes. Solving past mistakes, with more mistakes.
Aka the draft strategy of getting a pay day loan to cover the credit card debt you knocked up to deal with your cash advance that you took out to pay for your "buy now, pay later" whitegoods first instalment.

It would comply with the rules but highly unlikely the crows would do it. Crows have 3 F3s and 2 F4s, they could give us all of those, but I doubt we'd take that.
Those 3 3rd's could be traded next year (or this year) to move up to a team looking for points for academy players in 2025.

With 4R's having no points next year? They should be more valuable if so.

Unfortunately third rounders aren't worth as much next year either. You won't be able to bundle up enough to match top ten picks like you can this year.

Correct, you can't get as high and having less picks to get your hands won't be that advantageous.

Not saying I would be happy to do the trade. If we are going to take Tauru no matter what then it's better than staying at 2. We would have 4 3rd's to move up the order with.

Bit like how we tried to trade down the Will Phillip pick because we thought we could get him later in the draft. Take the best deal available that still leaves you highly confident of getting the player, but even then it might not be a great deal on paper. Still means it's better than the alternative though.

It’s fairly public knowledge that our F1 has been on the table. The fact we were willing to part with it for pick 13, shows it as being undervalued IMO. If we were willing to trade it for 13, we can safely assume we were/are willing to trade it for anything earlier than 13 & potentially something later than 13. We haven’t been able to find a taker at this stage thankfully.

The market absolutely determines the value, but you don’t sell your house when the markets dead at a significantly lower rate unless you absolutely have to…
Yes the F1 was on the table for Bombers 9, Freo's 11 and GC 13, but you don't know the full deals discussed.
You are making an assumption that we undervalued it because only pick 13 was mentioned.
My assumption would be the deal was 13 and one of 23 or 29.

Sounds like that washing machine the club bought a few years ago. I think the model was called The Polec. It came on a 60 Month installment plan, but heavy penalties if we didn’t want the machine any more. Early on the quality of the laundry being cleaned was pretty good. But the machine was a soft one and started breaking down regularly and its output and quality slowly declined.
