Shhhh, do not want my loophole closed! Shhhhh you.

I really like different thinking, surely this, over us selling 2 for gross unders.

Hannaford and Gerryn this year, 3 R1 for remaining holes next year to get Sharp +2. I like it. Gives those we have already a chance to grow and be exposed one way or another. Well done! I like it.
I would love Hannaford, he's my favourite player in this draft, but he would have to be gone by then.

Another option for trading down and into next year might be

2 > 7, F1 with St Kilda and then something like 7, F3, 62 > 28, 31, F1 with Essendon as a live trade.

Don't mind the thought but the last time we traded into the future it was a disaster and we'd miss out on some good players in the 1st round of this draft.
I'd prefer to round out our midfield with a bit more speed and class and better ball use inside 50 at 2 or trade with Saints for 7 and F1 before trading into next year.
But theoretically you could get a mid next year in the top 5, Ludo and Duursma with those three 1sts in 2025.
But Demons might also make finals and same with Bombres given we don't know what will happen next year, but they could also flame out. Bit of a risk and Powell trade is evidence of it not being a great move for me.
That trade was a disaster, but I think the covid year hurt us as more than the trade itself. You can always find mids. And I don't think we have to have top of the draft ones, we have enough of these, we need workhorses.

But the starting with the St Kilda trade would be a good idea, then seeing if our man gets through. If so take him, if not trade down further with Essendon or Sydney.

I'd be just taking one of Smillie/Langford/Tauru/Armstrong/Shanahan at 7 vs trading into next year for a 3rd F1.
I think we lack a bit of class delivery and speed with TT gone and that mid would be versatile to rotate fwd/wing/hbf, where I"m not sure next years mids are quite as versatile, but it's early days with that draft class.

I think we have the class covered with Sheezel and McKercher. It's the two-way running where we struggle, I think you can find guys for that role later on.

FOS, Draper, Lalor or Langford can run and tackle. Anyway we'll either finish off our midfield or split pick 2.
Can always take a tall by trading our F2 with Bombres 28.
Tomorrow the last day to swap picks before the draft and end of the DFA period, so will be interesting.
