Goldy just like Wells doing a fine job of fleecing scum bag clubs to top up his super 😂
Essendon were actually doing really well with Goldie in the Ruck and were sitting second after 11 games, but then they dropped him for the next game and that was when the shit hit fan. Who knew a 400 year old ruckmen would be the best player on a shambolic playing list. :D

you are right

7 out atm (1 more needed to go)

6 to come in
1. Darling (pick 64)
2. Parker (pick 40)
3. Konstanty (future 3rd)
4. Pick 2
5. Pick 22
6. Pick 58/rookie pick

Or split pick 2 so we don’t have to use pick 58

then the potential for houston which would
I would be amazed if we don't take River.

Surely at least one of Drury, Harvey and Lazzaro will be delisted at some stage.

I'd be happy with delisting Laz and Drury and either Rookie/ delist Coops. I don't see any of them being part of our future. If Coops could up his work rate and professionalism then maybe.

Melbourne made their last push using the method of investing in established talent and while it affected a draft or two bringing in May and Lever they became very good of using future picks to come back in for high rated youth. We can have it both ways.
The did, although one could argue it was on a different timeline to the one we are currently on.

If we take their last terrible year as 2014 (4-18) they recruited Lever in 2017 after finishing 9th and May in 2018 after a prelim.

I think people have a point that we should be adding cheaper options until we start moving up the ladder.

I reckon we should do both. It's been a really long trip down the bottom and we just seem to be adding kids to be led by kids. One thing Melbourne suffered with was losing the 2009 pick 1 and 2 in Scully and Trengove for nothing, with neither reaching their prime. I'm not saying go nuts but we need to be flexible. A future first for a player like Houston doesn't sit well with me, some creativity where it turns into Houston and a pick with good value to be used on another kid does.

Geez imagine if all 3 of those were half decent options at small forward. It’s been such a shame we haven’t been able to develop them into that. It’s prob one of those positions you either have that skill set or your don’t.

What is the use bringing in a 28 year old who’s going to cost us big draft capital? This list build is nowhere near done and there is no way we will be contending within 4 years. Houston’s career will be all but over.

Is the plan to be competitive or to win the thing?
DOB 12 May 1997

So to be clear, Houston is 27 and won’t turn 28 until Round 9-10 next season.

At the end of five seasons with us he would be 32 and if we’re not contending by this point then I give up.

I guess our comparable losses in terms of early picks are TT and (maybe) WiPhi. I agree with your last sentence 100% though; if you get a chance to bring in an elite player at a reasonable cost you probably should do that.

Another thing is we don’t know what the dees were trying to do in 14, 15, 16. Plus, just cause it worked for them, it doesn’t mean it’s the only way to do it.

To summarise: I obviously have nfi what we should do. But giving up those sweet sweet draft picks just hurts so much…

JHF too but I can accept we turned him into George.

Happy with those delistings.
Sad for the guys sacked but that's professional sport for you.
Taylor the only one of the 4 to ever show anything but even that wasn't enough.
I suspect sleevo goes probably in a trade.
That would give us enough room for a few decent trade ins on top of our Nd picks

You've forgotten the Scotts era of mid table finishes already?

We need the next 2 drafts (or our F1 for 4) then we're ready to trade earlier picks.
Agree to disagree mate.
I think the time is now.
Balta the bigger need of the 2 but both would be glorious.
Balta coming in pretty much would skip 3-4 years development which we dont have a great history with.
Thats a rebuild fast forward in itself.
Him coming in would be awesome swinging forward or in defence with comben. He's about the same age as our other kpp also which also helps.
A 24 year old soon to be 25 premiership kpd.
Yum

I don’t mind trade week.

After reading Sphynx ’s insights in the clarko thread re all things north but particularly Clarkos reasoning re Jack Darling and why we are getting him (elite preparation), perhaps we are keeping someone like Laz who prepares himself in an elite standard as well.
laz and drury are your classic triers , very coachable, but just lack the edge,

If you want to fill our list full of crap. Good for you!

I want to start winning games of football. I don't see how you do that by continually taking players who don't cut it at other clubs and have absolutely zero upside left in them.
Keep calm and relax.... ;)

Compromised drafts coming, use the next two years of drafts to get in the highest quality kids. We'll be on the up naturally after than which is the time to start trading higher end picks for est players.
Or, we get in top quality kids and win 9 games over '25/'26 as nobody on the list knows how to win or perform when the heats on, then lose established players because we never brought in guns when we had the chance...

Corr on his last legs too.
Better to have someone to pair up with Comben for the long term.
