Does it really count if no other club is interested... Unlikely to be matching a bid right?
The fact that no other clubs are interested is the only way that the AFL will allow us to have a father-son selection.

When there was chatter around about him in the MSD I made a point of looking out for him at a couple of south's games. What he has going for him is he fits the prototype medium forward that we really only have Sturt representing on the list. But yeah, apart from that, he's a way off Sturt levels

I'd have to defer to people who have seen him play but there can't be too many examples of successful AFL players who came off half a season of split league / ressies (and he finished in ressies according to the stats) at aged 20 when they were drafted.
Only thing that leaps out at me from his stats is he only played 1 season of colts. Possible late developer?

I don't think he's ever nominated for a draft before. If he had and we'd passed on him you'd be right, we couldn't match in subsequent drafts.

When I checked that earlier in the year he didn't appear on any of the nomination lists and F/S is first nomination only.

Yeah Jaren Carr
oh i remember that kid. Had to pull my son off him as he had his hands around his neck at Coast when they were about 4 or 5. Think he wasn't happy about being pushed in on the queue for the slide. So, clearly Carr is selfish and not a team player. Sure to affect team culture :moustache:

Lawson Humphries. But he would be an anomaly and perhaps the only example that actually exists. A success story for the West Coast NGA.

Pretty sure it'll be as father son rookie. If he's overlooked in the National Draft he goes straight onto our rookie list as a Category A (our last pick in the rookie draft will be used technically but it's locked in).

Hamling delisted to be rookies

Considering he was pissed that we took so long to offer 2 years, I can defs see this hitting his ego

What a dumb move to Sydney that was
[Josh Draper likes this]

let himself be convinced by a player manager with a grudge.
Also would’ve arguably played most games for us this year.

Which is shit for him, but even worse for us considering we had Draper playing on some of the top tall forwards this year and I reckon his dour defence would have gotten us over the line in a few of our close ones.

good for draper development though which will help us in the long run.

I wonder if he'll be as scathing on Sydney as he was on Freo?

Irony is he would have played most of the season with us and stifled Draper's development.

Hamling made a bad football playing career decision but financially he locked 2 years of salary. He may have been delisted after 1 year with us. We originally offered him a rookie spot and then upgraded to primary list but for only 1 year.

His presence would have definitely impacted development of Draper (and Hugh Davies) in terms of playing AFL.
