Gags when you look back through his record is he was poor at the negotiating table. Consistently overpaid for players.

And then ironically didn't cough up a 2nd rounder or whatever for xerri after getting him to nominate us.

Nobodys perfect, and he did some ok things- but all in all he had some big misses and his hits were very few and far between (and minor).

So we managed to **** up every high draft pick since Brendan Goddard and most late ones as well until he arrived but you're not sure? We pushed him out demoting him to get Dalrymple. It's a massive gamble. Dalrymple hasn't been great at Sydney. Blew more picks than he nailed. Warner was his absolute gold nugget though.
hahaha
I know I won't change your mind

So he's done about the same as those before him

Nas was a solid choice, no doubt Hobbs the inside mid we probably needed but hasn't been anywhere near as good
Owens & Windy touted top 30 picks - NGA
Adams a bust
Hayes and Leinert, could have been good if not for injury and another bust

Philapou or Tsatas, Essendon could have easily gone Pou and we end up with Tsatas, no-one would be hailing that
Van Es - bust
Hotton is hanging on by a thread
McLennon as an NGA rookie
Stocker and Camaniti were SoS selections
cant leave out Wilkie and Sharman, AA star and still a promising addition to the team, yet to still cement best 22

sorry, I don't see an irreplaceable recruiting superstar there, certainly not enough to get all huffy about a highly regarded recruiter replacing him.

Will be interesting to see what Toce does at Richmond with his plethora of picks, and similarly what Dalrymple does if we have 7,8 & 24.

whoever picked garcia has my undying loyalty...

if that's the same person that picked wilkie, pou, wilson, nas and sharman then we gonna need a statue
Considering it was a draft night trade. There would be more than one person involved.

be interested to see how much control he had, Beatson is king there.

As good as Talent IDs and list managers are - the culture and development are maybe what have made some of those players.

We Rowbottom, Warner and co. great talent spotting or the result of the system they were being brought into. Similar could be said for Geelong’s late picks that always seem to work. Development and culture.

Not dismissing the recruiting at all, grabbing someone like Tom Stewart is great work. But there’s a lot more to it than just good talent ID.
Absolutely % agree. The talent and drive must be there at the start, but the environment they go into is what will turn them from a kid with promise into a true elite senior, or an uninspired/selfish/mentally scarred player who doesn't develop.

Get the environment and development right and i suspect the percentage of our our draft busts will decrease and our hugely prolific GOP factory will become a gun factory.

Different type of player but culture-wise Membrey is a big upgrade on Stringer. I’m concerned that the Shiel talk has gone a bit too quiet.. usually indicates the deal is done.
I would be physically sick to see Sheil in our colours and Skunk in injector colours.

Gallagher was never a recruiter.
When Trout, departed the roll of Head Recruiter and list manager , the functions were seperated.
Gallagher was list manager, Libratore was recruiting manager.
That would have been a surprise to Gallagher given the job advertisment for his role was to

"Oversee the strategy, operations and recruitment of players via all available methods – draft, trade, free agency,
academies, alternate/international athletes"

Toce was Head of Recruiting but he reported to Gallagher.

SOS came in and took Gallaghers job and he then moved Toce on so he could bring in Dalrymple.

gon need more statues

Would be better than the current one

would be no surprise at all to me,i watched heppells last game & his body language toward shiel gave me every indication shiel aint playing there next season, totally no surprise if deal already done

So bombers won’t give stringer 2 yr deal therefore assume Members will be on a one year deal if he goes there…..surely we are offering Timmy a 1 yr deal also!

Finally some common sense on irreplaceable Christopher GOD of recruitment Toce.

We had someone who isn’t completely incompetent like the previous. Yes good but thats the return we should be getting at the draft.

Says who?
No one. Its just a speculative trade someone came up with and makes no sense. Stringer for all his issues is still a 40 goal a year forward at the moment. He aint going anywhere and unless another club offers him 3 years neither is membrey.
