No, I don't believe we will trade him as part of a package for Rowell, as I communicated clearly and several times. I don't think we will be able to trade for Rowell because we don't have the right assets we are willing to trade.
You said.
Secondly, I definitely don't want to trade Allan, unless it is part of a package for Rowell.

If Rowell expressed interest in coming to us (if he hasn’t already), we wouldn’t be pushing Allan out the door to make it happen.

But if, and only if, that happened and Allan came to us and said he was interested in going home, would I want to explore the option.

Ok, agree with that. I know though Allan wants to stay in Melbourne. Very happy there.

I also said that I didn't believe that the overall package that we would put together would likely stack up.

Be real for a minute Fat Jesus. If GC offered us Rowell for Allan and our 4th rounder, you are doing it.

Allan is a silly one to be discussing in terms of trade, as his trade value is so up in the air. If he's still in the VFL at the end of the year, he's not worth much towards Rowell at all, but if he breaks out, wit his skillset, he'll be too valuable to trade.

According to Fly, IQ and Nick he will.
A superstar in Nick's assessment.

I'm not sure a player's public statement about a teammate is really the best judge of whether someone will be a gun or not - they are obviously going to overstate the teammate's potential to the positive. We only need to look back over the years to see the players that talked up the likes of Ash Johnson, etc.

Have we ever ever heard a player or coach say about a teammate 'I think he's okay, but I'm not sure he will become a star. Probably a mid to low tier contributor at best, but he needs to really improve this year'. If so, please send the link.

And again - I'm not saying he won't be (I've been clear about my personal projection for Allan in the U23 thread), just that comments made by players in the media are far from bankable. Do I think he will become as good or better than Rowell? No I don't.

They don't build up or down a Player they have doubts about it.

Still needs to be shown during Games but what we saw in final game from Allan was Very Promising

I'm not necessarily saying they have doubts about them, I'm saying that there is not necessarily a high correlation between what they say, and how effective that player becomes.

In recent years, each of Fin, Reef, and Johnson were all talked up, and each was probably in the conversation about delisting at end of last year.

Again, having said that, I think Allan is likely to become a decent contributor to our midfield mix in the next few years (maybe even as early as this year).

Maybe they did that with those 3 try and Build Confidence for them

Where Allan not that at the Moment and Hopefully never is

That's the point I'm making. Just because the players when interviewed preseason about another teammate say that he is on fire and will be a star, doesn't mean he will be a star.

Who else in our side has earned this sort of praise. Tell me please.

Star, Superstar.. right, no one.

Sadly, it’s probably more likely that Allan doesn’t become a great player and Rowell will just sign an extension and we’ll be left with nothing 😂
What’s the more likely outcome?

A. Allan breaks out this year but requests a trade (let’s say to WA), netting us the currency we need to satisfy GCS to allow Rowell to come to us.

B. Allan does not break out, while Rowell signs a short extension taking him to FA eligibility.

People are disagreeing with my post, but all I said was perhaps B is more likely.

Of course, we’d all prefer option C, but that’s not what anyone was talking about.

Scenario B is by far the more likely of the two scenarios. However, the two conditions you outline in each scenario (i.e. Allan performance and Rowell recontract) aren't linked. I think the most likely is that Allan has a solid year and cements himself in the 22 by years end (not necessarily breaking out), and Rowell signs the short extension.

According to the Herald Sun/Newscorp any Pies player that has ever played one game for the club is a “star” or “former star” if they get in any sort of trouble.

Just for Clickbait as no Mentioning Collingwood = $$$
