Luke Parker
Luke Parker has plenty of football ahead and has already compiled a resume packed with impressive achievements. Since landing at the Sydney Swans via the 2010 AFL Draft, he has won a 2012 premiership medal, earned All Australian selection and won two Bob Skilton medals. In 2015, he was added to the club’s leadership group at the age of just 22, and has led the team as a co-captain alongside Josh Kennedy and Dane Rampe since 2019. While Parker is among the league’s elite midfielders, his strong marking and expert game awareness make him a genuine threat when rotating through the forward line.

Luke Parker
DOB: 25 October 1992
DEBUT: 2011
DRAFT: #40, 2010 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Langwarrin (Vic)/Dandenong U18

What makes you think this quality is likely to diminish?

I took a modicum of umbrage at the "got lucky" reference to Parker dropping to 40 in the draft. We got lucky as much as every other club stuffed up by overlooking him. Wording it that way smacks of sour grapes, and completely disregards the fact the kid might just have improved and progressed since joining our wonderful club.

The Demons would be gnashing their teeth in the knowledge that their 2011 "hardnut" discovery, Luke Tapscott, while obviously good, clearly lacks that touch of genuine class of Parker.

I don't want to overstate it, but Luke Parker is undoubtedly one of the greatest footballers to ever play any code of football, anywhere.

Yes it's quite funny how some discern luck or lucky. Lucky that a chap who won 8 B&F in a row fell to 40 - perhaps. As for the number 40 in itself, that is not his true figure, if you factor in the Suns AFL sponsored predraft permitted smash and grab. The real number, more likely 50 plus... now that is more than lucky - IT'S FV<KEN OUTRAGEOUS, and I like it!!:diamond:

Definite future Brownlow winner. Might have snagged the 3 votes on the weekend in his limited time.

Seriously, he looks the goods. Hope we can get a few full games into him so we can really see what he's made of. He might just be one of those kids that steps right in and thrives right away.

Hall of Famer.

Luke Parker and Superman once fought each other on a bet. The loser had to start wearing his undies on the outside of his pants.

He plays a lot like Jack with the ferocity for the contest and quick disposal.

I look forward to watching these 2 terrorize opposition midfields together for the next 10 years.

He looks so assured and balanced. Only played when much of the game was done but still impressed with a few of his movements and decisions. Has to stay in the side and start the game IMO. Start him across HF pushing into the middle. Really want to see him play a full game next week.

Favourite moments are the two goals, outbodying Zac Smith (though he dropped the mark) and his diving spoil on Rischitelli :)

There are some really impressive and classy bits of play in that video (cheers for it btw RoR). I'm sure everybody has already come to the following conclusion but we have a really good one on our hands here.

Some of his quick turns out of traffic and bursts through packs to win contested ball look like those of a player far beyond 5 games of senior experience.

Watching his work in that video really reminds me of Jude Bolton with the way he's able to extract the ball.

Was hoping that we'd pick up this kid with our first round pick in last years draft. We ended up nabbing Pitt, but reckon we'd have grabbed him with the second rounder (44). Turns out you'd already taken him by that point.

Think we'll be happy with Pitt over the longer term, but you've got a star in the making here. Same things he showed in his draft highlights package... great sideways movement and evasion, great disposal by hand and foot. Terrific vision, smarts, repeat efforts and, most importantly, hunger for the content.

Can't teach hunger. This kid's got it.

Only thing I didn't see in the more recent highlights package that was in his draft vid was the overhead marking. Expect that'll come with time and confidence in the big leagues.

Congratulations folks... you've drafted a great young player here. Will be keeping an eye out for him during the match this weekend.

Batchelor rising star nominee...
Stitch up!

Batchelor has been playing well and the committee tend to look at all their games then just the one they are nominated for. Parks will get a nom - don't you worry. If he is doing this after a couple of games imagine him later on. He's played 5 games (sub for a few) - there are 7 regular games left this season, and if he plays 5 more or less this year he will still be eligible next year as well. Not sure if Finals games count??

Plenty of time don't worry. Better he flies under the radar a bit anyway if you ask me.

This kid is hungry. As someone has stated, you can't teach that. Loving the way he plays. With a bit more composure with the ball he could be anything!
