How They Fared Last Week:
Collingwood - A well earned week off!

Footscray 13.16.94, def
Essendon 10.15.75

The Stakes:
The winner will advance through to the 2016 Grand Final, to face either Casey or Williamstown at Docklands Stadium on Sunday September 25th. The loser, it goes without saying, is out.

Trivia:
- This will be Collingwood's first appearance in a Preliminary Final since 2009. On that day, the Magpies lost the 1st Preliminary Final to North Ballarat by 61 points, after trailing by just 3 points at half time.

- If Collingwood win, then Dale Tapping will overtake the VFL Magpies' only other finals coach (winning and otherwise), Gavin Brown, for wins. Both are currently equal on finals victories, with 2 apiece. Brown coached Collingwood to four finals appearances in 2009 and 2010, while Tapping has led the Maggies into five finals matches since 2013, with this coming Preliminary Final to be his sixth.

Over to you...

God damn I'm actually nervous about this game.

This team deserves the chance to play at Etihad Stadium next week. They've had such a great season, going on that remarkable winning streak and looking totally dominant in the first final despite once again being hit by injuries.

Play our game and we win today, Essendon blew their chances against the Dogs in the third term last week, so we will need to take our chances when kicking with the wind.

I trust Dale Tapping more then any coach at the moment, even when things look to be going wrong he figures it out.

We will win this, and roll up to Etihad next Sunday for a chance at VFL immortality.:)

We are coming out of the "home" rooms today for those interested.

Usually we come out of the away rooms, even for finals at this ground, but seems today we are using the Port Melbourne home rooms. Probably the better rooms you'd suspect too.

Yes. Warm showers and electricity.

Haha I think they turn the hot water and electricity on in the other rooms for "neutral finals".

But yes I have heard some remarks over the years about Vic Park like treatment in the away rooms at some VFL grounds.

Looking forward to seeing how all our boys go but in particular Crocker, Wills and Phillips from an AFL perspective and Lachie Howe and Jordan Kelly from a draft perspective.

Also looking forward to seeing some of the Bullies running around..... possible trade swaps for Trav. Dale, Hrovat and Webb are of interest and possibly even Fletcher Roberts who I thought had looked OK at AFL level at times this year (if Brown leaves).

Best of luck to the team today. I really want to see us finishing the year off on a good note, so getting through this week is vital. I'm hoping the opposition isn't too inspired after last night, certainly some of their players will be hoping to put in big performances to boost their chances of senior selection. Injuries have taken a heavy toll on our line-up, but our best this year has been brilliant, so no reason why we can't win again.
