Fantastic game from Charlie

Is my hearing crap or was Dwayne Russell calling him Coleman?

I heard it too - a few times.

After a tentative start I think that as Charlie gained confidence his game lifted and he was really solid in the second half. In an unfamiliar position - that's a win.

The way he evolved into the role in real-time was a revelation tbh. I went from "we've wasted his pre-season on this tomfoolery, throw him forward" to really seeing the vision here. Worked nicely with Dawson too, from how much I stomached to watch. Persist.

If Chom's body can hold together, we have our CHB. Build a backline with him, Logue and young Will Dawson. Kal Dawson as back up

One of the few positives. Got better as the game went on. He’ll continue to improve, and once our midfield starts controlling the footy his job will get easier.

Anyway Chom played a great first game in defence.

I am not sure what to think though - he needs to be playing forward as a second tall to Larkey - now that he has played well down back we won't be able to move him.

Well done Chom - stay injury free and there is a career waiting for you.

It’s ok mate, you went the early crow on a player playing his first game in a new position as a back man while the ball was bombarding our backs because of the lack of pressure from our midfield. You weren’t to know that he would get better as the game went on.

I look forward to seeing how good he’ll be when the inside 50’s against us aren’t so bad.

What this game really revealed today was that:
1, several senior players are not invested in our club, and
2. Other senior players are not AFL standard.

I just hope for the future of NMFC that we can keep our highly talented juniors together.

What an unbelievably shit take.

IT TOOK HIM LESS THAN A SINGLE GAME TO FIND HIS FEET AT THE LEVEL.

Looked totally out of place in the first, but by the fourth he was almost unpassable. That was quite an amazing performance from Charlie and hopefully it's the start of a long, injury free run of games and we can see him grow into a genuine AFL standard CHB/FB.

To have both Chom and Dawson with <80% disposal efficiency is very good.

They both have good skills too.

Next few years will be very exciting (hopefully lol)

Genuinely surprised me with the night/day difference between his first half and second half. Made me eat crow, which is good! If you're going to be wrong, this is a good way to be wrong.

I hope it was more a case of 'Comben was good' and less a case of 'Brisbane put the cue in the rack'. Guess we'll see in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed it is the former.

Just watched the video of Charlie speaking after the game. He almost looks like he is going to cry. So honest about his game and his desire for himself and the team to get better. If all the other players felt the way Charlie feels, we would be on our way in no time.
