Marsh doesn't suddenly get a free ride for eternity off the back of 1 innings. His career has been s**t , he needs about 10 good innings in a row to build up credits to go ahead of Green in the que
It’s a test series in England, not an eternity. Form gets rewarded. Marsh won’t be dropped for the next test, guaranteed. That would be like England dropping Wood for Anderson for the next test because he has more career credits

Yes I’d say ordinary. Not terrible, but ordinary. I doubt changes will be made to the batting line up, unless they want to bring Green back in. But it couldn’t be for Marsh now and I don’t think anyone else in the line up can open

I think you will find they will drop Marsh for Green. Green is the future; Marsh is not.

I wouldn't be averse to keeping Marsh in the team but how? Make him opener? Drop a bowler and play two all rounders - that means dropping a proven Test bowler who averages less than 28 at Test level.

They won’t drop Marsh after that. It’s an Ashes series, you pick for form and fit, not the future

Finally good to see an Australian batsmen play a cross bat shot to a short ball and impose themselves on the contest.

Green has been a disappointment this ashes series with both bat and ball.

Going forward, selectors need to pick batsmen who can take to the short ball at pace and not be cowered by it.

England are still well and truly in this series. Huge day today. Australia could close it out or England will come roaring back into the contest.

Looking to Boland and Starc to lift with the ball.

With this Ashes series being the final one in England for many great Australian players (Warner, Khawaja, likely Smith, Starc, Hazelwood) it got me thinking about what our line up might look like in 4 years time based on current knowledge. I've had a crack below:
Pucovski
Renshaw
Marnus
Green
Head
Wylie/Hardie
Carey
Richardson
Cummins
Murphy
Morris.

Thoughts? Critiques?
Hunt
Ward
Pucovski
Marnus
Green
Hardie
Carey/Inglis
Cummins
Richardson
Johnson
Murphy.

Morris (12th)

He's bound to be dropped if Green is fit. He took a five for last time he played test cricket then was in the wilderness for four years. He's turned into a great odi/t20 player for Aus so it's all good at international level for him.

But it was nice to see an Aussie out Bazball the bazballers.

That's what you think. I am talking about what they will do, based on what we have done with selection for a long time.
N way we drop a guy who just made a century. Won’t happen.
He may, may, not survive if he would say get a duck in the 2nd innings and dropped multiple catches.

If we lose the test, then drop murphy and play marsh and Green and bolster the batting....try and bat the game to a draw and retain the urn.

At the moment, that is all that counts.

Just watching day 1 now. Why the * is every single batsman been booed as they go on and off the ground. Funking get over Bairstow you useless w***ers in the crowd
Have timed it almost perfectly will finish day 1 just before they start the pre show tonight for day 2.

After watching 90% of day 1, can honestly say to their crowd

Same old England always whingeing

**** there useless chant about us cheating

I think Green or Marsh depends on whether we win this match.
If they win we will pick best possible team available for the 4th match. No way Australia wants to have the series alive in match 5.
Yes I’d say that is probably true. You don’t pick for the future in the 4th ashes test in a live series. You pick who is more likely to perform in that test and get the win. If we’re 3-0, who cares lol
