After the next Ashes.

There's not a test standard keeper waiting to come in anyway, and don't say Carey his keeping is well- we might as well have Wade behind the sticks!

The problem with that narrative is many said Paine wasn't up to standard (he probably isn't) but sometimes you have to give someone a chance. Don't worry though, you can sleep well at night knowing the selectors won't pick Head or Carey.

I think you are right Paine will try to hold on until after the Ashes. I think Langer has gone all in on guys like Paine so I think as long as he is coach he probably holds his spot. As Captain and Keeper though Paine wouldn't want too many more bad days though as it will start to get a bit awkward.

This is a joke yeah?
You stop an international Test match for 20 mins because some rando might have said ‘brown dog’?

You would think having competed against 1 billion other people to make it into your countries best XI would havetake some mental fortitude.

But I guess we just cater to the most easily offended. I hope no one ever complains about Test crowds in Australia again. Why would you even want to turn up if there’s a chance your own people will throw you under the bus.

Actually think Head will be back, he just needs a season in Shield working on his flaws. He isn't the first or last bloke to have to go back and work on something. The talent is there, it's the dumb dumb moments that are holding him back. He isn't forcing bowlers to get him out, he's gifting his wicket. Get a better balance and Travis will be back, hopefully at no6 where he suits, Green at 5.

After the Ashes I'd look at Inglis, better gloveman than Carey and only slightly behind with the bat.

India are better. Have shown it this series. Only one innings in 6 have Australia's attack been better.

Even SA are just as good.

Any combination of Steyn, Morkel, Philander, Rabada, Maharaj, Olivier, Abbott. Yes.

The current group of Nortje, Ngidi, Sipamla and Maharaj not so much.

With Abbott likely to return and Rabada obviously to come back from injury that might change

The bloke who reported it is on the other side of the planet from his home, bowling his guts out in his debut series, unable to go and grieve the father who died after the team arrived here.

F*** off with any claims about mental fortitude.

Arrh forgot Oliver and Abbott weren't available. Take that back then. India are better anyway.

You mean the bloke who had just been smashed for a couple of 6’s and just happened to take offence when Australia were chasing quick runs.

Piss off with hiding behind a dead relative. If he’s not mentally fit, don’t pick him.

I would love to see an Indian player come out to these shores and just Matthew Wade it ball after ball getting hit on the body and not rub it once. Oooooo yeah, never going to happen though. The Indians would get the doctor out for a fly landing on them

Dhoni used to 'wear' bouncers in test crickets as part of his defensive game. All the time. Kumble bowled with a broken jaw in a test match, and dismissed Brian Lara. Cricket is a lot more than what one-eyed campaigners happen to catch in their ignorant little bubble.

I couldn’t care less how he reacted to a couple of sixes being hit off him.

Don’t question someone’s mental or emotional strength when they’re going through a hell of a lot more than just what you’re seeing in a contest between bat and ball.

Given how much it’s obviously tearing you apart watching what happened yesterday and seeing a cricket match you’re not involved in paused for 10 minutes I’d suggest your own mental fortitude is fairly absent.

If the best bowing attack in the world can only get 5 wickets in 130 overs on a day 4/5 wicket, then the curators have a lot more to answer for then Paine.
At least the curators had an A+ game. Bit dead on last day but they cant perform miracles of judgement.
It was once that way at the SCG every single game from Day 3, with 200 a big last innings chase. Perfect batting early then up and down and big turn guaranteed to come.

They werent the best bowling attack in the world yesterday thats for sure. Long way from it.

In what way are they better?

Give me the statistics.

Bumrah and Cummins cancel each other out, they are both guns, take your pick who you prefer. Ashwin is a mile better than Lyon, there's a reason he's in the team of the decade. Has comfortably flagged Lyon this whole series on performance. Shami is just as good as Hazelwood. Siraj has had a great start to his career. In a year if it's not now, it's the best attack by panels.

It wasn't a good pitch, it offered a bit at first but died.

I'd say it was a decent pitch (7 out of 10 I'd grade it). Did have 3 results going until tea on the last day, meant most sessions were important. I'd have liked it to break up a bit more but that's just me.

Dude I actually know that Aus is an egalitarian democratic society which detests racism, need to show it here clearly. There can't be compromises half measures whatabouts etc. Nothing. Anyway this is too good a series and test match to talk about this further. I just posted the video as someone said it did not happen. Cheers

If the catches were held maybe we would not be discussing it? Not the bowlers fault catches are dropped.

Your in depth statistical analysis has won me over.
Get real mate.

Spot on, it’s not the players fault though as they have all been molly coddled since a young age and all sports these days think playing with some discomfort may lead to permanent issues later in life.
I was a fast bowler, I have a titanium screw in my back L5, two knees with no ACL in either and I play golf 2-3 times a week in pain that these guys would not understand.
It’s just simply a different era.

Its professional sport vs semi pro amateur setup. Professional sports nowadays has steep cost to a player missing a single game.

Because we declared at 6 down while chasing quick runs to make a game of it against the best attack in the world according to you.
Or has everyone just conveniently forgotten that.
The last 11 wickets fell for over 600 runs. That’s a road.
