Port Adelaide Football Club

Port Adelaide coach Mark Williams is calling out for all Power supporters to get along and help get the team over the line in Saturday night’s do-or-die clash with Fremantle.

The Power is playing its biggest game for the year. A win guarantees a place in the top eight and the chance to compete in the 2005 AFL finals series. A loss will see the club’s season come to an abrupt end.

Williams knows it only too well.

“There can’t be any more riding on a (home and away) game than what’s on the end of this one,” he said.

"There is no person at our club that is not willing to do everything to make sure we make the finals and to do that we must win this week.

“We want a sea of teal and the noise to match it at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night. It should be a fantastic game and we certainly encourage all of our supporters to get along and help us get over the line.”

The club knows the importance of a big vocal crowd, and only has to look back to the 2004 finals series and crowds of 39,250 and 46,978 against Geelong and St Kilda respectively to see what impact a big crowd can have.

The club’s biggest crowd this year (apart from Showdown) is the 34,892 at the season-opener against Brisbane.

Regardless of the result, this will most likely be the team’s last appearance at AAMI Stadium in 2005.

The Power can earn a home final by finishing sixth but needs Essendon to beat Melbourne and Richmond to beat Geelong at Skilled Stadium.

I've got a mate from work who is going to his first game for the year this weekend, 40,000 isn't out of the question.

I must have given him the bug last week when I took him to the Crows v Collingwood game.

I told him not to expect the same sort of class that was on display last weekend but should be an alright game. :p

SPARE TICKET BEEN TAKEN. SEE YOU ALL AT THE GAME.GO THE POWER!!!!!!!!

41,518

That's our 10th highest home crowd, but notably, our third largest for a non-showdown match.

I noticed that the Northern Stand was pretty empty near the top parts.

FWIW I was there with an Auskick group. 48 Auskick kids, 40 Mini League kids tick off near the end of the 1st quarter to get changed. Near the end of the 2nd quarter all the parents nick off to the best spot to, see the kids. Several hundred missing for a good part of the game.
