Nice bit of logical absurdity there. If Trump cannot be trusted with the military, being concerned about increasing the budget is irrelevant. Like, oh no, if the US military gets any more powerful, it will be too dangerous.

Democrats vote on what is good for the country, Republicans vote on what's good for them.

If the Democrats believe the US military has a genuine need for an increased budget, they will vote for it, even if a Republican they do not like and do not trust is in charge.

Republicans would vote against the cure for cancer if a Democrat was president.
And sad to say, that's not hyperbole, Republican strategy during Obama's presidency was to vote against everything, regardless.

Here's the problem, sorry Jatz12.
Spiny's right.

Yes, we're all aware of the outside implications, and the deliberate and weaponised misinformation... But he isn't part of that.

He's genuinely just trying to point out that we should demand more.

And yes, it frustrates the heck out of me, and I've called him out many times before.

But if any of us were being honest, his points are a position or conversation that we've probably had with people we know understand the situation.

So, while in a 'hostile' forum, where misinformation is rampant, we view his posts as conflation and 'all the same'.
But in reality, he's just pointing out the fact that we've grown to accept that near enough is good enough... due where we are as a society.

The only reason we can't engage in these discussion about being better and improving, is because of the weaponised media, and weaponised social media that has made everything an attack or defense.
The moment someone is in our 'castle', and they're pointing at a weakness... we attack them for drawing attention to it, for 'the enemy', rather than agreeing that it's time we fight 'the enemy' while also rebuilding our 'castle'.

Hope that makes sense.

And sorry if I've insulted anyone.

I agree to an extent. Where I take issue with spiny is that he has reduced Trump and the Republicans to cartoon villains and spends a lot of time giggling at their cartoonish villainy, all the while being scathingly critical of the less bad Democrats.

Yes, we should absolutely demand more. But of both sides, no?

Hutchinson, however, writes that Cipollone told her the documents were still full of classified information, and he demanded their return. Before she could leave to call Meadows, Cipollone added: “Hey Cass, while you’re on the phone with him, can you tell him we cannot pardon Kimberly Guilfoyle’s gynecologist?”

“My jaw was hanging as I turned around to look at Pat. I knew by the look on his face that he was dead serious,” she writes.

According to Guilfoyle’s testimony to the January 6 committee, she was seeking to help the son of her former gynecologist, a well-respected California doctor

Another win
The New York attorney general won a major victory in her civil case against Donald J. Trump on Tuesday when a New York judge determined that the former president fraudulently inflated the value of his assets to obtain favorable loans and insurance deals.
The decision by Justice Arthur F. Engoron precedes a trial that is scheduled to begin Monday, and will considerably smooth Attorney General Letitia James’s path forward as she seeks a penalty of about $250 million.
Justice Engoron’s decision narrows the issues that will be heard, effectively deciding that the trial was not necessary to find that Mr. Trump was liable and that the core of Ms. James’s case was valid. It represents a major blow to Mr. Trump, whose lawyers had sought to persuade the judge to throw out many of the claims against the former president.
