I can be disappointed at Biden pardoning his son and still despise those 'contemptuous Republicans'. Not worse than MAGA. They've destroyed the country.

Pardons are a corrupt business. Just because Trump is a corrupt, moraless twat doesn't mean Biden had to stoop to that level. I don't believe Hunter to be a bad person but he was found guilty of crimes albeit fairly soft. Out of control in that country- Trump will go on a pardon spree. What a great country

This is who these people are, cut from the same cloth, just dyed red or blue. The sooner people stop picking one side of the same corrupt coin, the better.
The creation of the two-party system allows for both sides to play off the people against each other. It gives each party a scapegoat to blame and deflect from their own shitty actions.
If people have an enemy to blame for their problems, then they dont have to come to harsh realisations.
The same tactic is used in domestic and international politics. Russia, China, Iran, N. Korea etc, the forever "bad guys" that need to be controlled by the benevolent "white knights" in the West. The irony is that each of these countries use exactly the same tactic on their own people, who claim the West are the "bad guys".
The common person needs to realise that the leaders of most countries are the "bad guys" and the common person in each country holds the key to changing this.

Representing and lobbying for a foreign entity, acting as a foreign "agent", without registering it? The pardon goes back to Burisma. There may be a fair bit of self interest in the pardon for Joe as well. We'll never know.

Exactly, complete and utter power of all houses and arms of government is all he wants to further boost his interests and ego.
It doesn't matter for what. Comer will go on Fox will some unsubstantiated crap a few times a week. It's all performative. He's been saying we found the proof but still never got past the sound bite stage. I believe Burisma thing was already investigated as well, shady but SOP in the ruling/wealthy class for the kids to profit off the names.
It became more and more clear as their 'witnesses' were outed. There was nothing there. If there were, they were criminal masterminds for being able to hide it all these years.

Biden stuffed up big time. All my respect for him disappeared in a split second. Just because Trump is corrupt doesn't make pardoning a son okay. Democrats need to hold Biden to account for this and admit it was a major error of judgement.
And no doubt that’s all true, but I’d have done the same thing as Biden. You can’t leave your son at the mercy of the trump gang.
The whole pardon system is bollocks but hey, it’s America. And the dems need to lift their game in so many ways, this is pretty minor in their array of deficiencies I’d have thought.

Agree 100% but still leaves me feeling disappointment in this decision OR is it disappointment in US politics in general.
It’s worse than disappointing. It’s shocking. They seem to have entered the ‘anything goes’ phase. As poster above said- look at the stuff trump has done and they still voted for him- they don’t care. Beyond belief. Gloves are off.
Ps hunter Biden didn’t actually do much wrong to be fair.

I'd like to see Joe, at a parting speech say, "You may criticize me for pardoning my son. But many of those who do voted for person who was convicted of 34 felonies, and who also pardoned many other convicted felons."
Just put it out there from his bully pulpit.

Many of his recent threats targeted prosecutors who charged him with crimes: Smith, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
He has publicly called for investigations into prominent lawmakers: Cheney and the rest of the January 6 committee members (who he said “should go to jail”), former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (for her supposed “ties to Russia”), Senator-elect Adam Schiff (for his role in the Trump-Ukraine impeachment saga) and a host of other Democratic lawmakers.
Still, members of Congress have immunity from the Constitution’s “speech or debate clause” that offers such broad protections for their legislative work that even members of the defunct January 6 committee would be unlikely to take seriously any legal threats.
Trump also has said Vice President Kamala Harris “should be … prosecuted” for letting undocumented immigrants into the country. After the election, Trump called for probes of Iowa pollster Ann Selzer (for “election fraud,” by releasing a poll with Harris ahead), and into stock traders who spread “illegal rumors” about his investment in Truth Social.
During his first term, some of Trump’s calls for probes were apparently heeded, leading to investigations into 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, former FBI director James Comey, and former FBI deputy director Andy McCabe, now a CNN contributor.

If even some of those pardons take place all hell will break lose and Trump will lose his mind. I do think though it makes sense and some of it may happen.
