India is a bit short of where it would like to be but at least it has an extra bowler at its disposal. This could be more telling on the fifth day but they need 400+ at the very least to make that count.

With two spinners they definitely need the runs on the board asap, can't leave it for the 2nd innings

They were lucky to an extent with the dropped chances. Have to make the most of it.

Hopefully they'll continue to be competitive

Pretty even days session. First session in the morning could decide who is on the back foot this match. If Australia get 2 or 3 wickets they are in control if India bat through India will be looking forward to bowling to them late on day 2 very tired.

Well said.

If anything, 300 on the first day is about 30-40 runs short of where India should be at this point in time.

The Australian bowlers (in particular Clark and Lee), were fantastic - with Clark in particular unlucky not to get at least a couple.

Tomorrow's going to be a massive test of Dhoni's technique.

He's probably been India's biggest under-achiever this series.

As vice-captain, he really should be doing better, but I don't have high hopes.

No not at all, fact is, at the fall of the first wicket the time it took for the new batsmen to get to the crease was to long.

Im not for a minute blaming the Indians soley for the poor-over rate, but to think they are not partly responsible for the problem is naive.

LTD why are you spacking out? Chill out dude.

Im sorry, but sometimes its like talking to a brick wall around here.

THe bowling over-rate is poor, has been all series.

But its obvious both teams are to blame, the batsmen equally so. Yet everyone just wants to blame Ponting.

It does look as if Aus are finally succumbing to the fact they no longer have McGrath and Warne in the team. The last match they were let down by their 3rd and 4th bowlers and today India were there for the taking but the bowlers didnt seem to be up to the job .I fully realise it is supposed to be a good track but you still feel the formers would have bowled them out or had them 8or 9 .On he other hand the good news is that India played some poor shots and Aus are probably just ahead

The bowling was fine, it was the fielding that screwed us.

This test last year we had mcgrath and warne and were fasing a dominant England line-up. Didnt help us much.

Wouldnt say the Indian lineup was there for the taken. They are still a class team.

I just backed India at 4.40 to win.

I can see this track being really hard to bat on by the fifth day and we will have to bat last. India have picked 5 bowlers inc two class spinners. We have no class spinners.

For Australia not to lose I think they will need to have at least a 100 run lead after the first innings. That is likely to need to be 550.

India look a good bet to me.

No love for Johnson?

Hayden takes that catch it is a clear win to Australia. Nearly started abusing him sitting on the bus watching on my phone. :D

Anyway 1 over pill first up tomorrow morning, Aussies need inroads.

We had no answer to their bowling in the last match. Obviously a totally different deck, but looking forward to seeing how we go this time around.

Good call Weevil, this is the big question I think we will know about 20 overs into our innings weather we are going for Victory or staring down the barrel. Can India get more out of the pitch then us in this match like they did in Perth.

Australia's fielding has really gone backward the last 12 months. Hopefully they can really work on it and start to hold some of these catches 99.9% like they use to. There is no doubt in the last test Hayden not playing really stretched our fielding. Those couple of drops today could be the difference.

Hayden and Geogey bring some batting depth into the team, can only see India spinning to victory on the 5th day.

India are more likely to collapse tomorrow morning and be all out for 350 with the Aussies 6/300 at stumps

Adelaide's a great wicket, yes, it mainly rewards good batting but if you're any good as a bowler you'll get results out of it. As proven today by Lee. It's not a road in a sense that a bowler has no chance, like at Antigua. It's a beautiful wicket

I can see where you are coming from, but personally, i still feel that a "good" test wicket should have some 'juice' in it for at least the first session of day 1 and maybe a bit into the middle session before the wicket flattens out into a decent track.

This allows the art of opening the innings to be truly tested, otherwise the fate of the toss can basically decide the test. When you have opening batsmen just swinging through the line with planted feet on the first day of a test in the first session you realise that maybe a bit of sideways movement would make for a better cricket wicket, to really test the skill of the batsmen.
