On paper it's actually an amazing side (middle order in particular), team from the 4th test at the MCG when we got bowled out for 98:

Watson
Hughes
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Smith
Haddin
Johnson
Harris
Siddle
Hilfenhaus

Although reality was a different story; Ponting, Clarke and Johnson were horrificly out of form, and Smith hadn't figured out how to bat yet.
If one didn't know better you'd think that was one really great team when it was actually shit.

DAVE WARNER'S AWAY BLUES - IT'S NOT NEWS!
Warner last hit an away ton in Sep 2017 against Bangladesh.
He has 50 away Tests (96 inn, 1 no) for 2,981 runs @ 31.4 (SR 66, 5 x 100s, 20 x 50s) in his career.
In his last 17 away Tests (32 inn, 1 no), dating as far back as SAF in Mar 2018, Warner has 617 runs @ 19.9 (SR 58, 4 x 50s)
Against England in England, he has played 17 Tests (33 inn, 0 no) for 852 runs @ 25.8 (SR 65, 8 x 50s)
In his last 9 Ashes Tests in England (18 inn, 0 no), he has 296 runs @ 16.4 (SR 56, 2 x 50s, 3 x ducks)
Warner bats at 51.5 against England at home (1,237 runs in 15 Tests, 26 inn, 2 no, 3 x 100s, 7 x 50s)
Warner bats at 58.4 at home overall (55 Tests, 95 inn, 7 no, 5,139 runs, SR 73, 19 x 100s, 14 x 50s)
It's just not right. And it has cost us, is costing us, and will continue to cost us whilst we ignore the blatantly obvious.
No good.

They deserve it after the antics at Lords which were an utter farce over dismissal. Serves them right
Yes I think it's fair to say that there's times when I haven't especially cared for the ugly Australians behaviour in the test cricket arena, but as far as I'm concerned, we can be proud of how this team has conducted itself and that retaining the Ashes in this fashion would be quite sweet, considering our opposition have carried on like effing knobheads, basically since the end of the first test.

A comprehensive win in game five would be fantastic, but I'd be partial to a repeat of the fourth test at the Oval and a 2-1 series win. Would be bloody hilarious.

If this test ends as expected, we can look back at Australia picking a lineup to suit the weather forecast and the series ledger and to England choosing to have a Bazball circle jerk instead of declaring their first innings 10-15 overs earlier, if winning at all costs was really their mindset.

That First Test pitch was flat as *, if England weren't pushing for a result it would have been a draw.
And if England had've scored more runs than Australia they'd have won. You can't be sh!t at cricket and win. It's a simple formula

Everyone knew we’d lose most of day 4 & 5 to rain. What did Stokes do differently for this?

What was he supposed to do> He can't control the weather.

It's hard to win a test in 3 and a bit days, England were in a winning position and the rain looks like costing them a win while Australia will get out of jail.

It's a sh*t way to decide this test and the series, you want to see it decided by the players out on the field not sitting in the dressing room playing cards.

Marnus Labuschagne was a huge factor in deciding this.

Everyone knew time would be lost.

I would rather we won a series by us playing good cricket than winning it by default due to the weather.

Australia might retain the Ashes due to it raining for the best part of 2 days but it's hardly anything worth celebrating.

You are just celebrating the rain and not your team playing good cricket.

The only reason we can win or retain the series is because we’re in front or at worst break even

But yeah default 🤪

Have to wonder if people here are true cricket fans praying for rain.

I want to see this test and this series decided by cricket not by the weather.

This will be a massive anti climax if they can't get back out there today to decide it.

**** that

I want the urn

I don’t care if a draw gets it done.

We won the first 2 matches and put ourselves in this position. Nothing default about it
