Konstas scored 60 on debut of 63 balls, before today Khawaja had scored 63 runs from 6 innings and McSweeney 72 from 6 innings. First player to make Bumrah look second rate is impressive in it self.
He was 19 in 1992. Not sure that's a great comparison. More likely a one off.

Australians like Ponting have done a lot worse.
You can play for an associate team and then to a full member with no qualification period.Unfortunately my google-fu skills have failed to turn up a definitive answer, but there doesn't seem to be much stopping his head being turned if Aus come calling. Would be a Bethell-like selection though.

Yeah it is crazy... He gets picked and all i saw all week was how the selectors are throwing him to the wolves, Bumrah is one of the best ever, Bumrah is unplayable and anyone would fail against him.
Konstas comes out and takes the game on and scores 60 to put is in the driving seat and some are not convinced...

No one is claiming he is a finished product, what i will say is how anyone could see his wide array of shots he has and not be excited is beyond me. He has all the shots in the book and plenty of his own as well.
He will have some rough moments
He will fail at times
He is a kid and has a lot to refine about his game but damn is he talented and damn is he exciting.
Can someone explain to me why there is so much crying on this thread.
Batting to slow caused lots of tears, but 311 in a day is ok.
Tears again for over rates. 87 isn't perfect, but on a scorching hot day is acceptable.
Just seems sooking is so prevalent.
If people say they enjoy Test Cricket, I don't get why they complain so much.
Has complaining become cool?

I follow AFL, NRL, cricket, NBA, F1, Tennis very very closely. I also follow a few other sports casually.
I have never met fans as miserable and whiny as test cricket fans. They just criticize everything and anything no matter how good things are going. Heck we whine when Australia dominate because it is boring but the second they lose they want to retire everyone.
Today was such a great advertisement for the sport!

After a few low scores the sharks will circle and they'll bring in someone new.

If Konstas wants to play IPL he should respect Kohli.

No, it’s about the significant number of Shield players who have put up far better cases for replacing incumbents over the last few years, and have been ignored.
It’s about guys like Glen Maxwell who have been overlooked for test selection, because he can play the game precisely as Konstas played today and it was deemed not suitable.
It’s a pure media / ACB campaign since the start of the summer that even has Konstas’ name in contention.
Hits a ODI ton against India A and it’s shouted from every stage managed puff piece script, ignoring the 7 matches leading in where he averaged 25.
Good luck to the kid, very talented, great eye, but let’s not kid ourselves that it’s a logical selection even if it pays off.
