Generally I 100% agree, but surely it's reasonable to question his effectiveness against this Indian attack in Australia when he's averaged almost 60 these past 2 series against India in Aus.
If they were just questioning that sure, but it was more. He clearly had a plan for Jadeja today, and he got him.

For the other tests I’m not sure what people were expecting. Brisbane and Adelaide he was barely used, Perth is the one you could question.

Bowling spin in Aus is hard, and the Indians tend to be fairly handy at playing it

Average batting order but longish tail. These two probably better than half their top 6

Even more stupid to send a night watchman in really. Sundar at 9 is beyond dumb

Don't get it at all. Not only is Washington more likely to survive the night session but is a decent chance of cashing with runs the next day. Instead he is batting at 9 and if there is a wicket he has to resort to slogging with genuine bunny's at 10 and 11

To be fair, he hasn’t been his best this series to date. Even when he hasn’t taken wickets he has struggled to at least dry runs up at his end, which is one of his strengths. Nice wicket though, and hopefully that is the start of a good run for the rest of this test and Sydney
Precisely. Lyon is not immune to some pretty muted observations that he has looked largely ineffectual this innings and series, which he has. Notice the all knowing wise sages didn’t spring to his defence until he’d taken the wicket, and good on him for doing so.

Having said that he’ll probably clean up the last 3 now.
