He's been quieter because they've taken him out of mid rotations as players have come back.

He pretty much played a pure small forward role yesterday, with Taranto/Hopper/Prestia/Graham/Bolton sharing the mid rotations.

If we get two second round picks for Baker our recruiting team should be Marched out the door.

Up to WCE to satisfy us. I would be saying, Lachie Schulz is the barometer. So either a first or second this year and a first or second next year…. Then walk out the room.

Baker is so much better than Lachie Schulz. We can’t keep handing our players away for **** all. It’s cost us in the past.

You have to look at the club we are dealing with. Schulz got Freo overs as Pies were flag hunting and happy to pay a premium . Hopper got GWS overs as we were flag hunting etc…

But if WC are the chosen club, they won’t offer ‘overs’ as they are rebuilding and would place a really high price on their quality draft picks. If Freo were the club they’d offer overs as Baker would be seen as a flag winning puzzle piece. Just as GC would offer overs for Rioli.

So whilst Baker is a superior player to Schulz, it doesn’t automatically extend we get the same or better trade value. Doesn’t work like that.

IMO from the Eagles a pick between 12-15 will be the offer, and we would accept that as Baker is uncontracted. If they can’t get a 12-15 pick then their current 2nd and a future second would probably be offered, and that would be slight unders but an acceptable deal.

Baker is not a midfielder and not an ultra consistent gun player. He has a range of great, good, average and poor games. He goes long periods without touching the ball. He’s very good but not anything worthy of a first and second draft pick from a rebuilding club.

Let’s hope he chooses Freo ….

one of the things with baker is that he is a likeable guy and a player we have all appreciated as a richmond player
he is not a off field dickhead and carry's himself like a man
this is honestly a good thing for him -he will get a nice contract and new lease on a career and family life

Gold coast are going to need extra draft picks next year with several academy players to be drafted
Hypothetical if we trade Baker to eagles for their 2nd pick this year currently sitting at 23
And there next years second round pick sitting roughly between 18-22
We then trade our 2025 and eagles 2025 2nd rounders for gold coast ist rounder this year...currently sitting either 8 or 9
