Rickybobby,

As your saw from my above post i agree with you, its the VAFA's perogative to take a giant meat cleaver to the Clubbies section.

The only options Old Scotch had was to continue with the 4 teams and hope that the Cardinals had the numbers to fill the spare spots in the 3rds, or take the option that they did and only play with 3 teams. The Cardinals now have 55 people on the list and would have been able to cover the thirds quiet confortably, but the committee was not to know that at the time. The Cardinals feel as though they could always have provided those players and 4 teams would have been feasible, the OS committee feel that this wouldnt have been the case, that is the centre of the issue. However many guys have a lot more cynical view of why this decision was made, and that is where the probem lies.

The culture thing is a side issue, and really doesnt have anything to do with us now that we are no longer at the club.

As much as I love a good Scotchie bit-ch session, this is becoming very very boring.

The club is a joke, every year its the same story and everybody knows this. "We're rebuilding, our 'culture' is fine, we'll bounce back"

Hope they get relegated and then we won't have to deal/listen with these gooses.

D-Shlapped...

I disagree Shlappy,

Seeing these schotchy squibs tipping on each other on a public internet site is hilarious.

Play on.

Xavs
OM
De La
Uni
Collegians - hard one to pick with both teams filled with scotchies

One team is sure to gas it.

SBMT v OX - Really tough one this, im going with the home team, they play that ground well. SBMT by 11 pts

OM v OS - Scotch are a rabble at the moment, but this is probably when they will fire up. OMs by 18 pts

MARC v DLS - Marcellin will not win a game this season. DLS by 65 pts

UB v OT - This will be a real test for OT and will give us an idea of where they really stand. UB will be too strong though, 28 pts

COLL v OB - Collegians are proving to be the team to beat early in the season, too much class for OB 45 pts

Headed down to Elsty Park to watch the big game between Old Brighton v Collegians. Much had been made of this game due to the fact that one Old Brighton bloke had been suspened for hitting Captain Blumfield off the ball in the first praccy game.

Collegians jumped them and had a lead at qtr time, before Old Brighton hit back and kicked 6 straight to lead at half time. After Coach Hibbins gave the Collegians boys a spray at half time, Collegians hit back and started to take control. Of course it was always threating to spill over and a large meele at 3/4 with No 51 always in the thick of it.

Collegians showed their superior fitness by kicking 6 in the last to run away winners. No 51 copped some strong treatment from the crowd, and didnt like the attention.

Some very low acts in the twos as well, with two old brighton players reported, one for spitting after being sent off. Old Brighton need to get back to playing football and not trying to win the fights.

Yet another loss for OS today I see, season looks to be in tatters... But not to worry, I hear they've got plenty of good players coming up through the 'pathway'. Looks like a B grade relegation could be a blessing in disguise, it'll be the kick up the @rse that the club desperately needs!

As I don't live far I went down to the Junction to watch OS/OM - as a neutral observer I thought Scotch had the OM's at the 5 minute of the third where they'd come back from a 23 pt deficit to get within 7. But they then went to water - OM's applied a bit of pressure back on them and the game was over in about 15 minutes - they kicked 5 or 6 to zero in that time.

Scotch looked disinterested and I reckon gave up when it got a bit hot - something I understand Scotch has been known for in the past decade or so.

From what the terraces were saying, a lot of unhappy campers at Camberwell with Banfield. It seems they are not really playing for him.

Mal, you must have been at a different game to the one that I witnessed. They didn't look disinterested, they looked deadset scared. I can't imagine it was the physical prescence of OM they would have been scared of (at least I would hope not), more scared to succeed, or fail. Who knows? Either way, there are some deep seated cultural problems amongst that mob.

To be fair, OS had eight walk-up firsts players out. Allowing for the inevitable injuries etc faced by all clubs, that many still has to be hard to cope with. Doesn't explain the capitulation on the field though. I was quite surprised as at the same point Mal mentioned in the third, I thought we were going to be in for a good game.

sad to see up and coming OS youngster Will Strange will be out for upto 8 weeks with a hammy, big loss as he was proving to be a key part of OS forward structure throughout the year.

blinky bill, im not sure what gum tree leaves your smoking mate but I dont think Will Strange is a key part of there forward Structure?...5 rounds in they have kicked 55 goals between the team, 2 of which have come from Strange? he seems to be a bit of a golden boy down at OS does he really deserve his spot?

See chairman of selectors Mick Hazell has decreed who is to be in the Vic Squad at this stage. How on earth did Nicholson from UB and Beck from OM miss out? Far too many ordinary B grade (and lesser grade) footballers in that squad for mine - who is Florance? Why are they plumbing such depths? In my day (not that long ago) it was a big thing to be selected for the big V - I don't remember too many D graders training on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings at EP back then.

Maybe Hazell feels morally obliged to look after the lower grades given his Salesian roots.
