Hi all,

A quick question regarding "Essential Crows" AAMI Stadium membership, this afternoon I applied for memberships for next season.
My mate said to me after i had faxed it off that he doubts I will get one because of a waiting list.
Nothing of the sort is listed about a waiting list on the SANFL website, as far as I am aware it is Season tickets purchased from the AFC that currently have a waiting list.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Cheers

That sounds like a cat 2 Crows home games only and that might have one

Re: AAMI Stadium membership question

Usually the SANFL advertise that Memberships are available, so I'll be surprised if there's a waiting list. However, there have been waiting lists in the past and there may be one this year.

SANFL Members Price Hike

Did anyone else receive their SANFL member renewal pack for the Crows yesterday? I have to say I'm pretty annoyed at the latest price hikes to ensure you have a seat. For those that haven't seen the pricing, most of the balcony seating area has been turned into resereved seating and they have added between $110 and $130 to your annual ticket price ($310) if you want to sit there. The only unreserved seating is now at the far ends of the stand.

Anyone else unhappy with this extra charge or is just me?

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

No you are not here is an email I just received from a friend of mine:

Hmm

Got our Crows membership renewal last night - apart from the first 4 rows upstairs, all seats are now reserved for an extra $120 a ticket.

So - our normal seats are unreserved, but now we are going to have to fight all these people that won't pay the extra money, and I can;t blame them.

And how the hell is reserved seats going to work with members guest passes?

What happens when it rains and everyone crams upstairs to stay dryu?

Stopid stuff - think there will be some backlash over this

Since then he has raised some good points, is this a cash grab by the SANFL to pay for the Port bailout? Is this charge only being targetted at Crows games, or are Port getting the same? Will be interesting to see with Category memberships are being targetted by this.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

I joined the forum after years of watching just to express how unhappy I am with this Price Hike.

It is messing with tradition and culture of what the members do.

Where we normally sit upstairs is not reserved, but now will have to comete with how many thousands people that won;t pay the increase to get our 'normal' seats.

What happens if you pay more to get reserved seats, then by a guest pass - does the guest have to fight for a seat to sit by themselves?

What happens when it rains and everyone crams upstairs?

It is crazy that us members line up and wait 5 hours before a game to get our seats, but it is what we do, happy to do and don't mind continuing. What made the SANFL think they could change this?

Have spoken with several other members this morning, this is the straw that borke the camels back, and they are talking of canceling there membership and use that money to travel interstate a couple times a year to watch the crows instead - can't say I blame them.

As it is the SANFL - do these changes apply to Port people as well?

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

It does apply to Port fans as well according to the letter I got.

Not only does the SANFL raise more revenue from those who pay the charges, the will probably also raise more revenue from those who don't but will have to go earlier to guarantee a seat. They are more likely to buy things from the food kiosks etc.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

I just don’t understand any of this, they are complaining about lower attendances, the Crows fought tooth and nail to get a Friday night final which we then supported by selling it out, and then they and the SANFL start this rubbish. Something’s seriously not right.

I wouldn't blame people for starting to say stuff it and save the cash and stay home and watch it on Fox instead.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

I have always defended West Lakes as the home of footy, mainly as it it is Tradition - but if the SANFL keeps tinkering with Tradition, we might as well have a city Stadium

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

Geez, if I knew I could save 5 hours of my life every game for cost of $11 I think I would just change habits and <shock, horror!>, get used to my new seat and rock up 1 minute before the opening bounce like everyone in the outer! Costs more than that to park your car in some places.

What do you do for 5 hours?

Not meaning to sound unsympathetic about the price hike but there's a lot of people that would give an arm and a leg just to be able to sit anywhere up there just once!

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

So is that just Crows SANFL tickets? not for tickets that gets you into Crows and Port games?? Because my God! That's more expensive than the Crows Gold Memberships
Good way of getting people to games SANFL

Re: AAMI Stadium membership question

Hi. I got my AAMI stadium renewal notice yesterday, it says I can do it on the internet by logging on to SANFL.com.au using membership number/password but for the life of me I can see where to log in. Anyone have any success or will I have to head in to town? D:

AAMI stadium memberships (through SANFL) are available most years. That's how I got a membership as there was/is a big waiting list on Crow's membership.

I think the main thing is the price hike. By my calculations, if I want to sit in the same area as I have for the last few seasons, I will have to pay 40% more than last year.

It is for the Crows AFL games that the price increase has come in. I think you now get 6 free SANFL games during the season which is a change to last year where is was a buy-1-get-1 free situation.

Agreed That $11 a game is not much - but when you add in that we get there early to avoid paying for the car park, it would cost cost an extra $10 a game for carparking on top of the reserved seats.

What do we for 5 hours - we socialise, we drink, we eat, we put on a few bets, we shop - all part of the pregame tradition with the knowledge you will get the seats you want and knowing you did not have to fight 'peak hour' traffic, or be crammed on a bus to get to the game.

If the majority of members are not there hours before a game, the SANFL and Businesses will miss out on a lot of money.

People like to change seats from game to game, people like to sit with different groups, or bring different people -having reserved seats will restrict and stop a lot of this socialising.

I can understand memnbers wanting to have reserved seats - and I am all for it, but not such a large chunk of the stadium.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

The SANFL has been poorly run for a long time.

This is why I am a member of my SANFL Club and my AFL club but would NEVER be a member of the SANFL.

Maybe now the apathetic members who were willing to let the SANFL get away with murder may now start to mobilise.

The Crows should in my veiw just sell season tickets for the whole stadium as should Port. What really is the benefit of an SANFL membership? The clubs should run the stadium themselves. Would also get rid of cetegory one members and help solve the empty seats issue.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

So what part is now reserved? Is it just the upstairs area, or is it downstairs in the members as well?

Not sure if it's how well it will come out, but here is a map of the areas:

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

Does not effect me personally, but that is a disgrace.

Add to that, how Port and the crows are getting screwed with the stadium deals, it's time for Leigh to join Max in retirement.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

I sit in the open so it looks like it doesnt concern me too much, but its an odd choice to make, especially given its going to be significantly more expensive.

Re: SANFL Members Price Hike

Thats the SANFL, completely out of touch with reality.

"Hey I have an idea, considering the economy and job market is so great at the moment, what with it being the booming 1980s, I mean just look at our great stadium, right at home in the 1980s. Lets make a large portion of the members pay extra to reserve seats and of course they'll want to, viewing of our top tier, high quality SANFL competition at our state of the art stadium is in high demand, look at all of Port Adelaide's members, so many! Whats that mother, no I don't want to go in the cupboard mother, NO MOTHER NOOOO!".

Fair enough ... I understand where you are coming from

I am just speculating that there must be some "value" from not having to get there 5 hours beforehand? Value in the saved time and value from the other things it seems you are spending money on to bide the time.

I can only assume that the SANFL figure that $$ from extra $120 per seat >>> than what those patient members are spending in the stadium while they wait.

I wonder if they feel it might be extra incentive for members to actually go to games or at least get a better return from those members that don't go regularly? This is based on my perception that a decent chunk of SANFL members are not turning up each game.

I agree a 40% increase is a lot.

Re: Crows/AAMI/SANFL Membership 2010

I spend $20 on food before the game starts because I get there so early. If I am forced to get there near gametime and sit in a reserved seat, then I will not be spending that $20 a game. I imagine it is the same for most other members who get there early, getting their seats then packing the bars. They will not spend that money because they will not get their early.

Re: Crows/AAMI/SANFL Membership 2010

The problem is that us members are a passionate bunch, so we won't vote with our feet and quit, we will just bend over and take what ever the SANFL drills out.

Shame they take advantage of us

But have they really thought this through - if they increase reserved seats by say 20%, that means 20% more people arriving half an hour before the game - do they know what impact this will have on traffic?
