Opposition supporters have a hard-on for him. Even though his deals usually get done.

Now back onto Saad rather than Essendon's list manager which has the same tired argument every trade season.

Kind of hard not to talk about Essendon’s list manager in the Saad thread considering his opening ambit request is pick 7 plus a choice of one of our best players with it lol

Surely it's not this hard?
Carlton's 2021 1st rounder for Saad. Done.
Carlton backing themselves in to play finals, puts the pick at around 11-18 (realistically, even we make finals, a GF is not likely, so that narrows it to 11-16).
That values him about right according to most sane people. Essendon can then death ride us for the year, and any worse than finals and it's in their favour.

No I said GC weren’t interested in ‘doing whatever was needed to make a trade happen’, because they wanted to make a stand.

Making requests that they know we can’t work on because the pick they requested isn’t available anymore as it’s already tied up is not negotiating in good faith, and that’s fine because they wanted decided making a stand was more important than losing Martin for nothing.

BTW - for the revisionist history professors in here.

Carlton offered Future 2nd (27) and 3rd (45) round picks for Martin, equivalent in points to pick 17, which might've come in handy in bringing some other talent in. This for a bloke who was out of contract, yet to reach his potential and wanted out.

Cochrane refused this, because he had just received massive concessions from the AFL and wanted to throw his weight around. Hence, Martin was collected in the PSD and Cochrane looked like an idiot.

Never let facts get in the way of a good story.

And on Dodoro and Essendon's behaviour....LOL.

Thats unders for Jack Martin imo.

We want to be keeping 2021 draft picks or acquiring more. Fwiw I rate our 2021 first round pick higher than pick 7.

Yes that Jack Martin.

in another comment earlier you claimed that GC offered the points equivalent of pick 45 and we refused, then you claim that someone stating the we offered the points equivalent of pick 17 is unders lol.

You are all over the map and don’t even know what you are arguing.

If I was Carlton - i'd prefer to offer this years first rounder - (maybe sneak back a late 2nd rounder)

2020 is the year that draft pick order is less relevant.

Sure. Not sure if the Blues were really trying their hardest. Hawks got a deal done for O'meara for example.
Cochrane wasn't there at the time of the OMeara trade. Cochrane made a clear policy decision that they were going to be unreaosnable with Martin to show other people that GCS wasn't just a feeding club for other teams.

They're late picks that were of little use to Gold Coast given their other picks.

That's revisionist history.

GC were pretty clear that it wasn't the overall value, it was where the picks were, and that they only wanted 1 pick

Word is that Western Bulldogs have a couple of clubs looking at that pick..

crows could offer them 20 and 29 for it and even give a wink and a nod that they wont bid on JUH at pick 1 and thus give them a massive points win equivelant to handing them pick 30..

So the deal would have to be better than 27, 41 and 45 for pick 13..
You know that's in upgrade of like pick 60 yeah? And your wink and a nod is worthless I'd have it at 1
$1.01 odds you don't call out jug with pick 1 draft night, then again that would be typical Adelaide to give away their only ever #1 pick.

And we weren’t able to entertain that pick because we had already tied it up in the Papley saga.

Gc decided to stick to their guns of demanding something we had already committed elsewhere because they figured sending a message to the rest of the comp was more important than losing Martin for nothing, good for them.

Will Dodo try the same thing?

Have a look how that trade is going for Hawthorn and how the Martin deal is going so far for us. Glad we didn’t roll over and we are a Kemp and Philp better for it.

Clubs should learn to not shit can players on the way out if they want to get some value for them. Especially if they want overs.

You're getting angry about untrustworty rumours 3-4 weeks before trade week is even open.
