Yep, "We'll communicate directly and sensitively with Adz and his management"

You would not say this to a contracted player that you want to keep.

It's become very clear that Collingwood is pushing Treloar out the door. Quite disgusting.
The core of the story is very likely to be true. We’re trying to move him on. There is a lot of mayonnaise lavished upon the story however, with speculation of conversations that may have happened, Treloar being told he’s not wanted by the leadership group, etc. etc. Now waiting for the wiretaps and forensic accounting reports to come through...

Montagna is talking like a ****wit
He just wants more drama so the media can continue to fan the flames forever and a day.

He has short memories of how his club treated Luke Ball all those years ago

Nothing like Luke Ball... Ball was at the end of his contract.
Treloar is in the last year of his current contract next year. The contract he signed last year does not commence until 2022 and is for 4 years.

He was BOG in their GF he asked to be traded—they flat out refused to do a deal and then took the contract off the table and almost forced him to come back for nothing or try his luck in the draft.
They even had their captain and leaders publicly suggest he was leaving for money rather than more opportunity.
The only difference here is Treloar will get paid either way and that none of our players or leaders have publicly spoken

Montagna is a Collingwood hating pr1ck who's still carrying a massive chip from '10.

Montagna, FMD are we really quoting this flog with low moral standards, what has this world come to.

Not a King fan but he stuck up for Pies and said why should they respond to the media not their FN business it’s a footy matter.

When Kimmy signed the contract, its one of two situations
(a) Collingwood knew about it, and so Kimmy signed with the club's blessing and the parties had put an arrangement in place. In this case, the rumours would be false and the parties are merely doing a poor job at stage managing the media reporting of the planned exit; or
(b) Collingwood did not know about it, in which case the club is totally justified in saying that AT is making arrangements that are putting his performance in jeopardy - even more so taking into account the real risk that there are border closures in coming years

How did they treat Ball? The rumour at the time was simply that the coach told him that they didn't see him as best 22 in the following year. Ball therefore wanted to leave.

Because at some point not responding becomes more damaging than responding. What do you think players considering moving to Collingwood are thinking right now, looking at how we treat our players?

If AT or any other player chose to break up with his wife, would the club also be totally justified in trading him for making arrangements that put his performance in jeopardy?

thanks, thats an interesting comparison

however i am primarily thinking that constant travel places his performance and physical health in jeopardy, given that he is a professional athlete. an elite sport is not the same as a 9- 5 job, and if you are regularly going to be interstate (especially during covid) it seems foolhardy that you would not consult the club and the medical staff first.

i do agree that the media reporting suggests the club has treated him poorly. my main point is that either the club and AT have been negotiating this for some time prior to the netball contract, and if not, it was a rather foolhardy decision to make without consulting the club

Let's assume Treloar is being pushed out and what's being written is accurate, would you guys accept Richards for Treloar? Straight swap, if we took on 100% of his salary?

Sadly even if he does leaves or is fired the damage is done.

The handling of AT has been disgraceful.

Agree with you. Something doesn't smell right and surely it will come out at some point. Interestingly, opposition clubs aren't knocking down walls to get him even though the Pies are prepared to pay some of the salary. Hard to keep secrets from within the inner AFL club circle.

Would need draft compensation thrown on top of it. Serious draft compensation. Richards is a nice enough young player but he averaged 10 touches a game this year and 12 last year. Would need much more to get us to do this than just a nice storyline

Treloar is a gun. If he wants to stay and believes he can perform to an elite standard, but the club don't believe it, both parties should compromise and put a clause in his contract which specifies that if he does travel interstate for non football purposes during preseason or the full football season without the club's expressed consent, or he fails to fire as expected on a regular basis, he forfeits the remainder of his contract.
This is the club's way of getting Adz to put his money where his mouth is.

That's assuming this isn't all BS to begin with.

If this is proven to be fake, the club needs to take legal action against Edmund for Defamation. It's time the clubs and players put Journo's back in their little holes. These fake news Journos are looking for headlines without facts, thats not Journalism!!!
If true, Bucks needs to be sacked. Treloar is best mates with Howe, Crispy, Grundy, Sidey and Adams. This would kill the moral of the group...

Haha, where do you think the journos get this stuff from?

Clubs background a journo “off the record” about something, and then the journo will turn a microphone on and go “on the record” and the club will blatantly deny it.

Happens all the time.

No doubt Collingwood are big players in that arena.

That’s why it’s only a small cabal of experienced AFL journos who break these kind of stories ... the clubs trust that they know how to play the game.
