the club actually think mackay is a gun player… so you can only imagine how highly they rate sloane, keays and laird..This is infuriating. Excluding Rucks, Melbourne who are top of the ladder had 8 different players roll through for a Centre Bounce. We, currently sitting 2nd last and supposedly rebuilding had 4. GTFOH Nicks. Our lack of diversity at CBAs all year has been putrid. Surely we are dead last on the season for different players having attended a CB?
Where’s the harm in throwing McHenry in for a couple? Get Murphy in there for a few. Hell put Jones and Cook in there for 1 or 2. How are we supposed to be developingour next wave of Mids?
I take it that's the case going on the 1st video.

Cook played wing, McHenry does too, CBA numbers don't count wingmen. This is infuriating. Excluding Rucks, Melbourne who are top of the ladder had 8 different players roll through for a Centre Bounce. After 15 odd years I can honestly say I know next to nothing about David.
I'm the opposite. I feel like Mackay would want to make his retirement public, so his grandkids could see pop play for the Crows one last time.Mackay strikes me as someone that wouldn't really want a farewell game. Or at least, he wouldn't want to telegraph it.

Simple answer: we're not.Where’s the harm in throwing McHenry in for a couple? Get Murphy in there for a few. Hell put Jones and Cook in there for 1 or 2. How are we supposed to be developingour next wave of Mids?
Simple answer: we're not.
Some people think we're fully focused on rebuilding.
Some people even comfort themselves by thinking we are only so bad as we are because Nicks was tanking.
The uncomfortable truth is this year was Nicks doing his level best to win every game.
Any 'rebuilding' was purely a coincidental result of having to play a certain number of young players due to the good work our list manager has done removing senior players from the list.
Where senior players have been available Nicks plays them in preference to rebuilding. Every time.
I'm not sure we did our "level best to win every game", because there are some games where that appeared to be not the case (e.g. reverting to 2020 tactics for the entire Essendon game). However, I do think they tried to win most games - without risking us getting out of the bottom bracket of teams, and losing access to the early draft picks.Simple answer: we're not.

That's the difference between list management and coaching. Coaches are employed to win as many games as they can, using all of the tools at their disposal - which is exactly what Nicks has done. List managers are there to plan for the long-term future, regardless of the immediate short term. That's why our list management team are delisting Tom Lynch and Daniel Talia. They have to do the rebuilding work

It won't happen this week
He and the club will be hoping that after trade week and all the comings and goings of the post-season occur there will be space for him to squeeze onto the list
They can't commit or cut him yet.
And yet through some magic we don't understand, Mackay manages to not only survive list management, but also get picked each week. That's the difference between list management and coaching. 250? Pffft if we don't get him to 300, we have failed as a club.I have little doubt we will leave no stone unturned in our desire and effort to get Mackay to 250 games
I don't mind the thinking - a season like 2020 develops no one - but I think they could more a little more flexible with the centre square set up than they are. Schoenberg and Berry have looked good when they've been in there. Sloane, Keays and Laird are good enough players to still find the ball with stints as high half forwards. We would have lost little and gained plenty by running a few more players through the middle even if the senior trio remain the most prevalent in the middle overall.
They did it last year before the trade period. I can't see why this year is any different, his form's been the same and injury free.It won't happen this week

Was it Craig that had his A team and B team and depending on the game situation run either group through?Yep
It's seemed as though we've made the decision that we need to be semi competitive in order to rebuild. Being an utter rabble like last season sees no one develop.
To our thinking, having a senior core running the midfield allows us to compete (but not beat) most teams which gives us half a chance of holding our own.
Then we'll be able to develop some youth around the edges. And in time the youth will take over in the middle. A slow burn rebuild rather than an all-in rebuild.

I can't remember but he had the back boners, the crushers etc. I can't remember the exact names but the concept of understanding developing players and introducing increasing levels of responsibility/opportunity onto them over time is a sound oneWas it Craig that had his A team and B team and depending on the game situation run either group through?
Looks a team who could push for finals, but we do need 3 or 4 elite mids to push the top end of the ladder.I was curious what a team of our kids (and long-term contracts) would look like.
I think a lot of pieces are there, and the talent gap in the midfield (and small forwards) seems pretty obvious too.
