Looks a team who could push for finals, but we do need 3 or 4 elite mids to push the top end of the ladder.
3 or 4 elite mids?

I think you use that term "elite" way too loosely.

How many teams can boast 3 or 4 truly "elite" mids?

I think you confuse the word "elite" with very good?

He would have to be a big chance if delisted to take over from Wright as our SANFL player so maybe he moves quietly into that.
Dmac clearly offers something to the team and club beyond his mediocre football ability. We're not privy to that but if he has been retained this long because he has exceptional standards off field, he might be a development mentor type our young players can follow as "the example" of preparing to be the best each player can.

They did it last year before the trade period. I can't see why this year is any different, his form's been the same and injury free.

Personally, I'm expecting it to be announced after the season but before the trade period.
Maybe...
I think the trade period needs to play out and possibly the draft as well. Only then will it be clear where any gaps exist.

Ned McHenry fills that breach already so bye bye Mookay.

On field...for sure.
But off field? Is Ned senior enough to be a mentor for young players? Also, how much SANFL will Ned play from now on?
I'm still hoping Lynch might find a role in this space at some point once his playing days are done.

Off field

Yes, being 30 years old is not what makes a great mentor.

None unless coming back from injury.

Those bagging Davis’s ability mustn’t have watched him closely at SANFL level over the last three/four years. He’s got the ability and a little bit of X factor about him. He might well be delisted in the end, but in my view, the club is to blame for a lot of his development. It’s actually ludicrous the way he has been treated. The crows are all about playing a debutant for only a single game then dropping them or not playing them when they’re in form for an older, more mediocre player.
I see him as a highlight package for a few times a game and nothing for the rest of the game. Often only 10 or so possesions a game in the sanfl side.

Where do you sit on "AFL Star"?
Currently we have none on our list, several youngsters with the potential maybe.

Some would class Laird as that, I don't. He's a very good small defender and a good mid is where it stops for me.

If Dave is doing that, judging by our position on the table the plan is failing miserably.

What’s the knock on Charlie Constable ? Seemed like he had isomething special 2 or so years ago.

Anyone we should be interested in, I can see a couple...

Carlton
Sam Petrevski-Seton - interesting player

Fremantle
Adam Cerra - shock bidders!

Geelong
Brad Close - really like him. Different player but can be Lynch's half forward replacement
Nathan Kreuger - wasn't he the best pick of the mature age SANFL guys a couple of years back?

GWS Giants
Jacob Hopper - hope we've sent the dumptruck of money his way

Melbourne
Sam Weideman - Weideman for McAsey - who says no?

Richmond
Callum Coleman-Jones - perfect Himmelberg/Frampton upgrade
Dan Rioli - not sure why he hasn't put it together yet

St Kilda
Jack Billings - Hmmm

Sydney Swans
Malachy Carruthers - skinny Sturt kid, always a long term/long shot. Is he a Dawson in waiting?
Jordan Dawson - yes please

Western Bulldogs
Patrick Lipinski - like his skills
Lewis Young - I've always liked this guy but for some reason he hasn't emerged
