It was.

Their work is pretty uninspiring across the board.

I haven’t changed my opinion of the logo now that I’ve gotten used to it.

I don’t have a problem with the style. It’s just poorly drawn. Some parts of it are awkward or just downright ugly.

Wonder how much fuller got paid.
Well you know what people say about opinions... I would imagine Fuller got paid around $35,000, but that is just a guess.

I think more like double it

Then double it again

It’s a huge undertaking. Everything you’re seeing now from the club about the brand would have been through them.

The logo component is miniscule. The majority is on the research leading up to it and the collateral after.

It's worse than I thought

This is a horrific rebrand. They had a chance to do a complete reset and come up with an actual footy jumper and they end up at that. Half the time on TV it's just going to look like pyjamas.

It's like they took the criticism of "Just slapping a logo and side panels on a jumper doesn't make it a footy jumper", and then went in the complete opposite direction to fix it.

bomberclifford this what you’re talking about?

Yep. There's more stuff too. A well considered motion graphics palette and a solid social media branding style.

It's comprehensive and it's well executed. Should still be fresh in 5-7 years time.

To be honest, I'm a little envious. Not of the particular style, but the fact that your club has done it well and followed best practice.

I was sceptical when I first saw that leaked logo, but think the overall result puts your club at the forefront of the AFL in terms of its brand image.

I guess my guess was wrong.

I think the Gold Coast rebrand didn't consider how lighting may affect the jumper at all

There's going to be a lot of conditions where the logo is near invisible on the jumper making it just a full red design. The red on red is quite baffling.

Actually don't mind the direction GCS are heading with the away strip... but it still looks like a training guernsey.
The whole branding is missing character imo. Feels so corporate.

The strips are just terrible.

The have THE SUN to work with, and this is what they come up with?

My favourite Mighty Giants have a song for them though ...

The design incorporating a G an S as one, and a setting sun, is really very clever IMO... having been a graphic design teacher for so...toooo long, I give it a solid 8/10 🤣

However, there's not enough contrast in the colours of the home strip... something which I expect has already been mention over and over because it's so clearly obvious.

Clever should not be part of any logo design. Especially not a sports club logo.

If there is clever parts of the design, they should be nothing overt. (ie all under the hood)

Look at the best of the best, they aren't trying to get you to solve anything.

3 second test ... what is it? No idea with that abomination.

Also ... as far as our new logo goes, I found a couple of versions in that explanation from the designers ... that I don't hate / makes more sense.

The overall design is definitely growing on me.

The logo is much better without the ugly, inconsistent linework and the weird integration of the colors. So the monochrome version is decent

That home guernsey is so embarrassing not only for them but the league as a whole, people always criticised their old one for looking like a training guernsey so they decided to double down. Why even put any detailing on a guernsey if it can’t even be seen on television when you’re playing a game?

I doubt many who came up with the ‘minimal distraction/stealth’ idea had sat through entire games of Australian Rules football, design firms are taking minimalist style to the actual extreme and sporting teams are now falling victim to their sells to accept their little effort offerings.

They have taken the piss with that design and taken advantage because of the tiny fan base that even half cares, imagine any other team just rolled out a blob one colour guernsey as their main home guernsey, they’d be rightly laughed at and forced to come up with something else. This design choice by the Suns is literally like if the Crows changed their home guernsey to the training one they wore in the practice matches this year because it fits in more with the current day graphic design minimalism.

Funny, I saw it immediately. Instantly in fact.

I think it comes down to how your brain is wired.

A bit like the Nord jumper.

Possibly the laziest, most uninspiring sporting team uniform in the world!
