I'm not so sure.

He's fit enough, strong enough and capable. He's ahead of a number of draftees in terms of development and I can't see him being worse than Frampton.

The coaches disagree. He'd obviously be much worse than Frampton, otherwise they'd play him. Why wouldn't they, they love selecting the kids and he is obviously our future. It must be totally about game day performance expectations. He'd be a total handbrake.

I only watched the second half but RT is a long way off . Fish looked good in places and I thought Hately played very well. Our best player seemed to be the ring ins which is scary. Davis appears to be going through the motions. Days numbered? Murray and Borlase had their moments.

I sometimes wonder if having a philosophy that requires 6 weeks of outstanding form to enable replacing a best 22 player is demotivating. We very rarely drop players deemed best 22 at season's beginning. And when one of those is dropped, it's almost never for a player coming up from the SANFL, it's almost always for a player returning from injury. I reckon Gooch for Mackay was the last time it happened.

This thread is absolute proof people have short memories and that their opinions are massively over-influenced by recent facts. TT is a long way off. Remember the second SANFL trial game, when he had an absolutely dominant quarter? How far off did he feel then? Pedlar did some good things, but not as good as Berry in the pre-season. Now, he dominates a quarter, and is ready to go.

reality is probably that they’ll both end up being very good, and because they are still barely adults they will be inconsistent. Especially TT, who is a tall, and not settled in any particular role yet.

he played a vastly improved game yesterday. And some of the things he did just oozed class. He’ll get there sooner rather than later.

If the coaches are selecting the futureless Frampton on form ahead of you in a rebuild, then you're simply needing a lot of work. Fact is they fear the garbage output he'll provide and we're in the business of winning games of footy.

Vastly improved?

He was slightly better but still a fair way off it to my eye.

He'll get there no doubt but I'm not so sure about the "sooner rather than later" bit in 2021 unless he shows a fair bit more than he has in his 2 SANFL games thus far.

I'll tell you what too those blokes that were so keen to piss O'Connor off better think again.
Here who I think are our midfielders that currently sit in the way of Ronin O'Connor getting a game:

Rory Laird
Rory Sloane
Harry Schoenberg
Luke Pedlar
Sam Berry
Jackson Hately
Ben Keays
Matthew Crouch
2021 1st Round Pick
Chayce Jones
Ned McHenry
Lachlan Sholl

Plus Wayne Milera, Brodie Smith, Darcy Fogarty, Paul Seedsman ...

You really need to discount 2020 from any of your calculations re 2019 draftees, in my view any players that didn't get exposure to any SANFL or AFL should be on almost the same footing as the 2020 draftees. i.e Josh Worrell, Lachlan Gollant and Ronin O'Connor.

Unlike you I'm not keen to delist any player until I've seen a decent block of their footy at either SANFL or AFL level.
Our recruiters saw enough in them to draft them so I'll hold fire until the end of this season.

That's fair enough. I'll probably change my mind a few times through the year.

It's just speculation - I think this year's draft looks excellent (do you agree?) and we'll want three to four bites at it, plus two very good NGAs and possibly a trade target or two.

I think we'll need to be aggressive with our list changes.

You can always delist, then re-rookie a player.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the path we take with O'Connor at the end of the year. Get him off the main list, but still give him a year or two to see if he can become anything.

I purchased the round 2 game just now but can't get access to the replay. I get caught in a loop looking for the link but nothing obvious shows up. Are you able to post a link to the correct page?

Do you know what has happened to Ayce Taylor?
