We could do worse than give him a couple of sighter games.

He'll probably struggle to get near it, but he'll learn a lot. Dropping one of Rowe/Murphy for a few games is not going to affect whether we win or lose anyway.

How many has Stengle kicked by himself?
please dont remind us all.. its painful!

we chucked a promising young kid in the bin over a few nose beers.. i mean, who gives a flying **** about a few nose beers..

oh, thats right… the goody goody, apricot slice munching, white shoe brigade that this dopey club has bent over for, to endlessly please, since its inception.

sure.. the drink driving charge wasnt acceptable.. drink driving never is.. but he aint the first player to have one of those and he won’t be the last..

Ahhh dear.

You do realise we offered him a chance to stay.... And he said no.

This is the crux of it really.

The poor lad will go from playing in a very competitive SANFL side to a not very good AFL side in a role that is difficult to play at the best of times.

I’ll put my hand up and thought the club had no choice, 3 incidences in a year is pretty bad. But it’s bloody hard seeing him succeed not for us whilst our smalls suck. Having said that, with our stupid gameplan he’d be spending a heap of time in our defensive half to cover for our crap midfield.

Correct

Good on him for making the most of his ast chance but I'd say he'd struggle to be doing better than most of our smalls.

Mate it's time to grow up and move out of mum's house.

The way you're carrying on about Newchurch you'd swear he was peak Eddie Betts, you need some serious help
”grow up and move out of mum’s house”??..

is that seriously the best insult you could come up with?.. Faaark me.

you made a claim the lad kicks “cheap goals” (and god only ****n knows what those actually are).. you were then presented with evidence from just this weekend showing him kicking two great goals.. one that actually was eddie betts like if you really want to bring eddies name into this mind you..

and you responded with “oh, thats just a highlights reel”.. whatever the **** that means…

so come on smartarse.. you still haven’t given us all you definition of a “cheap goal” and some examples of Newchurch kicking them..

you’re all piss and wind mate.

another load of deceptive bullshit from you..

we offered to make him sit out the entire season.. and told him we’d maybe give him another chance after that.. in other words we gave him little choice but to go elsewhere.

of course he was gonna say no to it.. its exactly what we wanted him to say. you seriously cannot be that ****n naïve..

Oh he’d be doing better, maybe not as well as at Geelong but he’d be better than our lot. Unlike our smalls besides Rowe hes a natural forward and has good goal sense. Rowe should be better but he’s just not that good a player. As for McHenry and Murphy, my elderly dad would have more goal sense than those two.

I'd say the 2 against Norwood were pretty cheap. On the weekend had 4 kicks, he averages 7.

With his lack of workrate that would half at best at AFL level.

You're all brawn and no brains, you jump off cliffs quicker than a suicidal lemming.

But go on, keep frothing

Rowe's a better player than Stengle.

Wrong again

You'll get one right one day. Or not.

he's still a 19 year old kid. charlie cameron kicked 16 goals in 10 sanfl games. imagine if we never gave him a shot.

Come on..

Definition of “cheap goal”

And all these examples of newchurch kicking them..

Chop chop smartarse..

Saw a decent amount of Newchurch junior footy. I thought then he suffered a bit for not being made to run through midfield or even spend time in defence. Didn’t develop a wider range of craft than just his forward stuff.

A lot of good small forwards I see develop were originally midfielders who didn’t quite have enough to progress in such an important role and they pick up secondary roles like small forward or even small/mid sized defender. Good midfield/defence craft allows the small forward to be more dangerous around stoppages and a better defender once the ball needs to be locked in.

I might have said this here before and sorry if so. But I think his narrow development will hold him back in the end. Hope I’m wrong of course.

Were club's queueing up to grab Stengle or did I miss that?
Just pointing out that it will be very difficult for us to hang onto Rowe given that he's way better than the current AA or near AA forward pocket

It's a great observation and probably deserves it's own thread

Should young footballers as a general rule be rotated through some variety of positions during their formative years?

Being played to their strengths vs exploring their weaknesses
